Hello to all. I am new here. I am not yet a lapband patient, but will be soon. I as well as my hubby are at the point of insurance approval. I am excited, nervous, curious, anxious, and hopeful too. I am hoping to find a new me and enjoy being a mom to our son. Any tips, hints, suggestions?

Good choice, while I am not at my best point right now; I would not change my decision. It has done so much for me, I did it for my health but got so much more from it. Make as many changes as you can now. Little things like giving up soda or sweet tea, I used to guzzle it. Dropped 4 lbs by giving that up in one week. Try to start eating less, maybe no seconds and start to love Water. You will need to get in lots of fluids after surgery and it was a hard lesson for me to learn. Good luck to both of you. :)

Welcome. I'm only 3 weeks post-op but so glad I have the band. It has changed my whole outlook and I'm really committed to making it work.

For me, I second guessed myself a dozen times before having the surgery. I almost cancelled my surgery I was so scared. I am so GLAD I went through with it. It was a piece a cake (for me). It will help give me a healthier life. Just remember it's a tool and all the changes to make it work are a challenge.

Good luck to both of you. You're on your way to a healthier and more rewarding life!

Thank you all for your replies. I am excited, but so very nervous too. We have already cut out soda. Big step for both of us. He already drinks lots of Water. I am learning to. We have cut down on our portions as well. I am strugging, worrying about how to manage us before/after the surgery and keeping things as normal as possible for our young child.

I have my 1st appointment the 11 July, 2011- and not doing anything constructive, about my weight, I am just 43BMI and several people told me if I go down too low, I wont qualify for the surgery, so I am actually fattening up before the banding., and feel aful, but do not want to lose this great opportunity over a few lbs. I would be due late Nov/Dec and insurance makes changes ever year, so praying to be done by Dec 31, 2011.

You might not want to go that way, a big change up might cause problems with the insurance company. The guidelines for each insurance is different, so you might want to look at that. I had 2 co morbids and more than 100 lbs over recommended weight. Some even require you to be under weight management for 6 months to a year,

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
