Crying because I'm going to get skinny... What???

Recommended Posts

I totally understand where you all are coming from. Like so many of you, I have no idea what it will be like to be under 200 pounds. It seems like the last time I remember this was in grade 7 or 8 when I was 180 and then I was just always in the 200s (and not just a little, always in the 240-260 range). I feel like my teens an 20s were a blur of one failed diet after the other. So much sadness and pain that I hid behind my "pretty face". I am so excited that this time it will work. This time when I work it....my band will work for me and the weight will come off. I almost have to not think about it to much cause it freaks me out. What will I be like, what will my friends be like, what will my family be like??

I do feel as I get closer to goal my face is wrinklier but people always tell me I look younger now...who knows? Its definitely worth it and sometimes I cant believe how my knees etc dont hurt anymore, its sometimes like walking on air. (I am 48)

I do understand the fear of what the new body will look like, but for different reasons than some of you. I am three weeks from being 62 years old. My face doesn't look that old because my fat fills in the wrinkles around my eyes and on my neck. I have warned my husband that I will look older than I do now and maybe even look older than my real age due to the loose skin that might happen. That is scarry, but my choice was to stay fat (and younger looking) until I died of complications of extended and uncontrolled high blood pressure and diabetes, or to look older and get to really live to be as old as I will look. Sometimes the vanity still kicks in and I fear the wrinkles but I have to choose life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
