LisaB68 1 Posted July 16, 2011 Thanks, Amy I needed that!! Lisa Of course it gets better! Everyone is different, though. You have to remember that your body is under a lot of stress from the lapband and hernia repair. You've rocked your world...and for me, two weeks and I'm about 70% back to feeling normal. I still get tired, but my body was used to operating on 2500 calories or more a day....and now it has to be happy with around 700. BIG CHANGE! Hang in there - some days are good and some days aren't.....but you're on your way to many many more good days! Amy
LisaB68 1 Posted July 16, 2011 Thanks, Kate. I have my first re-check on the 20th, hopefully will be better by then, I don't want to be Dr. Nain's first removal at the first recheck!!! Lisa Hey Lisa, sorry you're still struggling. I have my up days and down days. I've been hurting today and not feeling any restriction so I've wondered what did I do? But I have my first fill August 16 and imagine the benefit will show up then. Hope you are fully up and at it again soon! - Kate

I tried grits man are they gross, I must of missed something in making them, Right now I am in a bit of pain, Mostly the gas pains in the chest and shoulder. making breathing in a challenge without wincing. I am going to take my medication and hope for not pain in the morning. I am excited to be posting over this side now. Dawn Marie
lifeisjustbeginning2011 11 Posted July 16, 2011 I think I have finally figured out my eating schedule to eliminate the rumbly tummy!! It took me a week on mushies (still another week to go). I had meals at 9AM, 1PM, and 6PM. No hunger in between, just made sure it was Protein packed. Today's culinary masterpiece was chicken, salsa and cheese for bfast and lunch and for dinner I had BBQ chicken, I bought a rotisserie chicken and ripped it all up, I will have meals for days. Tomorrow might be some hot sauce chicken...mmm. Good thing is that this stuff is good for me. My perfect amount seems to be 1/2 Cup and no Water for an hour after eating. Holds me for hours as long as there is good protein. I still can't believe it has only been two weeks since surgery...the bad days are disappearing from my memory!! lifeisjustbeginning2011 11 Posted July 16, 2011 I don't think I've shared this, but my #1 recommendation is.....< drumroll > Glass custard cups with lids (by Pyrex or Anchor)!! I bought them at Walmart (4 cups and 4 lids) for about $9.50. These are great because.... ---They hold 1 C each, making my 1/2 C meals very easy to "eyeball" ---When I make a meal, I make a couple of extras, slap the lids on, and freeze them ---They're easy to eat out of ---Dishwasher safe (lids and cups) ---Contents don't ever stain (because they're glass! GO BUY SOME!! I have two sets now (8 cups) and I'm going to buy another two sets tomorrow. So helpful! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pyrex-8-Piece-1-Cup-Storage/15114589
ActivityGrrrl 0 Posted July 16, 2011 Hi i was banded July 13.... I am still in pain...and even though i am barely eating i dont feel like i am losing any weight, Is it too soon? lol i didnt do the 2 week pre-op diet,,,, i was too busy going to eat everywhere and everything i wasnt going to be able to eat once i got the band. Not sure if that was a great idea... But it's the truth. I am determined to have this work for me, but i am doubtful and i dont know if that will be my demise. I am following everything just switching to mushies in the diet. Day 1 & 2 i did NOT do the strict 3 meals...i ate and sipped when i could...i guess now is the time to pay attention to the 3 meals etc...

ahassan 0 Posted July 16, 2011 I'm here Just really hungry all the time. I'm sure that my weight loss is stalling but i haven't gotten on the scale lately. I went to support group last night at my surgeon's office. It was good. We talked about how our body is a temple and reflected on how we are treating it.... And then our homework is to write a love letter to our body. Praising it for all the good it has done for us in our life...taken us through many adventures and carrying us despite our abuse. It was interesting. I am eating mushy stuff....really want some tuna salad. I had scrambled egg beaters last night and cottage cheese. It was good. Hi...I was there too, next month we must find each other...I was the one with my two kids (hubster did not get home in time)...it was quite embarassng, my daughter had to use the bathroom and I had to cut across the whole crowd...I am struggling with the weight loss stall, it really frustrates me...scheduled my first fill for July 29 though, so I am looking forward to that, and clothes are already fitting better now at least... wifeof1momof7 0 Posted July 16, 2011 Good evening all..I am new here and was banded on July 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm. I am feeling pretty good and just a little sore. I am off pain meds and even took a walk around Home Depot today. The most I have eaten was today and it feels like I am full up to my neck. 1/2 cup of Carnation Breakfast, 1/2 cup of broth, popsicle, and 2 sips of hot chocolate plus Water, WATER, WATER:) I am down 10 pounds and feel full even after a sip of something. It takes me an hour to drink 1/2 cup. My advice is walk, walk, walk after. The gas pain was terrible esp. in my shoulder and now the only pain is at the port sight. I am glad I found this sight and look forward to snooping around more:) Hugs all
lifeisjustbeginning2011 11 Posted July 16, 2011 Ohhhhh....sounds way cool!!! I'm going to have to ask around! I've seen the drawings of a plate with the shaded portions for the food groups, but I bet they're going to make a whole lot of money on plates!! Why didn't I think of that?! If you have an allergan lap band, our surgeon office told us they are making portion bowls and plates (I ordered them but not in yet) and they are supposed to be very helpful with "eyeballing"
lifeisjustbeginning2011 11 Posted July 16, 2011 I just googled it and found where they sell the plates and bowls. Dishwasher safe but not microwave safe. They have Lap Band written on them. LOL. Not that I really care a lot, but I wish they had just left that part off. After shelling out all this money for the surgery, I think I'll have to just look at the picture I have printed out and pretend that it is drawn on a plate. They're 4-5 bucks each, but a minimum order of 25 of each piece - so mostly designed for doctor's offices to order. http://www.lapbandtools.com/products/Portion-Control-Bowl.html http://www.lapbandtools.com/products/Portion-Control-Plate.html If you have an allergan lap band, our surgeon office told us they are making portion bowls and plates (I ordered them but not in yet) and they are supposed to be very helpful with "eyeballing"
AlyGurl 3 Posted July 16, 2011 Hey all July Banders, I apoligize now if I upset anyone.....but I am at the point of saying "What have I done?" I know this feeling will pass, but I don't feel well, I don't feel "right", I always feel like I have indigestion or heart burn (i have never had either), I still don't know if I am hurting from hunger, healing pains, or gas, or hernia repair and since Wednesday evening, I am pouting even watching a Kentucky Fried chicken commercial!! Again, I know this will pass, but I do hope that this "not quite right" feeling goes away soon. On the up side, I am down 15 lbs since last Thursday, but I still can't hold in my stomach and walk up right! Please, early banders, tell me it will get better!!!! Lisa I was like that the night after my surgery, I was bawling my eyes out and is agony and it was horrible. I didn't start to feel better for several days. Oh god, every food ad that came on tv was (and still is) KILLING ME! No matter what it is!
AlyGurl 3 Posted July 16, 2011 Me too!! I feel like I'm learning my body all over again. I ate Soup that gave me a lot of gas pains and it took me a little while to realize that they were actual gas pains... they weren't extremely painful, I just felt like a hot air balloon. I kept thinking, is this gas or am I hungry??? Turns out I was both lol I'm still getting used to the portion sizes. I find it strange that I can drink Water fairly quickly and eat yogurt at a normal rate and not sense my band. I'm thinkikng I'll probably need a fill in a month once I'm healed? Ah who knows, I guess I've got plenty of time to figure it out. I have restriction even when drinking. PBing is the worst!!! I can definately eat more now the swelling has gone down but if I eat more than 1/2 a cup *bleh!* I NEVER realised how much I boredom ate until I couldn't boredom eat!!!
