Oh my goodness! I am at ob/gyn office and the office manager just came up to me and said I look fantastic! I've lost 20 pounds since my last visit and I guess it shows! What a nice thing for her to say.

Has anyone found a frozen yogurt that is both Fat Free & sugar free. Starting my pre op diet today and they say I can have this. I do not like regular yogurt so I'm trying to find the frozen type. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx CAT

I did the pre-op diet and didn't lose any weight the first week. Some people say its because I was eating so much less than normal that my body was in shock and didn't want to give up any weight in case we needed it later! lol Point being that you were only banded a few days ago and your body is adjusting to some big changes as well as using its energy to heal. I wouldn't worry right now, the first few weeks after surgery should be focused on healing. I am sure the weight loss will come for you :)

Thank you for the support. I appreciate your comment!!!

5 days post- op. Back to work.. feeling OK. Have to learn to not drink so fast... i drink my Protein Shakes and then i am so full it hurts. I have to remember to take my time.. something i have never done when eating and drinking EVER...didnt realize the pain i was feeling was my full feeling...Is it supposed to be painful? I feel like i have to lay down or stretch out to make it go away.. maybe it's gas,

Yesterday was an ice cream festival.. i went thinking i wasnt going to eat anything.. but i had sherbert,,,,it was not sugarfree,,,but i ate it. Is sugar going to really hurt this process??? I hope not.

After my confession to my doctor of cheating with 5 meatballs during my pre-op 2 week liquid-only diet my new REscheduled date (from Wednesday, July 20) is this Friday, July 22. I'm down 24 pounds from starting my liver-shrinking diet June 7th. It's been a long journey to this point and now I'm nervous (but very excited). I just wanted to thank you for all your posts - this has been a tremendous help getting me this far. I'm just counting down the days. My hubby caught the flu last night so we're trying to stay clear of one another because I don't want to get sick and have to postpone once again. Many thanks to all of you on your willingness to share. I'll keep you posted!

Frustration! Ahhh. I'm 17 days post op, within 10 days after surgery I dropped 20 lbs,I also went in for my first checkup, while there I talked to my dr about not being able to drink 3 Meal Replacements a day, she told me I needed to have at least 60 grams of Protein and 600-800 calories a day so she wanted me to incorporate mushy foods already. Now I feel like I'm eating even tho I'm not really hungry just to meet the numbers, not serving sizes but the times I eat a day. Since then I haven't lost any more weight but I have actually gained 2 pounds which on some days I lose and then some days it comes back like a teeter totter, right now I'm 243 lowest was 242 goes up to 245. I'm trying to remain positive and motivated because I really want this and to do it right and to top it off we did full pay, but it gets me down sometimes, I don't know what I'm doing wrong and this is still so new I'm not sure if this is normal or somethings got to change. The band is really helping me with not being hungry and the way I think about and eat food now is wayyyyyy different, 600-800 calories is what I used to eat in a snack and that's what I'm having all day now, I'm walking and feeling more active but still not losing weight....ughhhhh what gives?

The only real difference is in which part of the chicken was used to create the liquid. They're roughly the same, and there's certainly no difference in terms of consuming them after lapband. Stock might taste a little better and make you feel a tiny bit fuller b/c there is some Gelatin released from the chicken bones when they're simmered (broth doesn't use as many bones in the prep stage), but I honestly have never been able to differentiate between the two very much.

Quick question .. is Chicken Stock the same as Chicken broth? ??? I picked the stock up on accident and wondering if its good to drink like a broth or if its only for cooking.

Okay. It's official. I'm in bandster hell.

It's been 12 days since my surgery. All of my surgical swelling seems to have gone down. My incisions are only the tiniest bit sore. I feel energetic and good. I've lost 10 lbs.

But I am HUNGRY. All the time. Just like before I was banded. I could, if I allowed myself to, eat MUCH more than the 1/2 cup per meal that my doctor says I should be able to eat.

I'm technically still on "soft food, " but my mother just had her knees replaced and I've spent a lot of time at the hospital and have eaten out several times. Yesterday for lunch I ate two cheese enchiladas--about twice the amount I should (but still much less than I've eaten before!). I'm having to fight myself not to overeat.

I am so very glad that my dr. is aggressive with fills--my first one is scheduled for July 29, only eleven days away. I can't wait to get that "Oh, I can't possibly eat that much" feeling back!

Anyone else hit bandster hell yet?

Lizzy,

I don't know if this makes sense or not, but my stomach is constantly growling likes I'm hungry, but when I try to eat any more than a pudding cup, I get too full......which is not making me very happy, since in 15 minutes, my stomach will be growling again. I get to go to mushies on Wednesday, but think I may hit up the cottage cheese tonight for dinner.

My fear is that if I put too much in my stomach at one time, the band won't heal correctly in the correct spot. UUGGHHH.

Tomorrow marks one week since banding. Yesterday I felt good, today, not so much. The Protein Drinks kill me. CIB no problem, but add the Protein Powder, and I have to lie down afterwards, because my port site hurts so bad. Looking to more days of feeling good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
