Hi all! Just wanted to give an update. I saw my psychologist and he doesn't think this is a mental thing. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday, so hopefully he can figure out what is going on. I'm still on liquids only, although, today was a really good day and I had some yogurt and a medifast shake! I was so excited! I'll update again after I see the surgeon. Thank you all for your advice and support!

After I had surgery, my surgeon put me on Pepcid complete. Any nausea, or feeling sick to the stomach was gone with this. Plus we get our Calcium from it too.

You miht want to look into this, it is a bit pricey, but what isn't nowadays.

It worked ! that's about the best I can tell you.

Good Health to you, Shirley.

Hey, just wanted to be clear and make sure I didn't scare you or anything with my previous response.... While there is a small chance that it could be psychological, I was reaching for alternative answers/ideas for you. Definitely listen to the others and try to get answers out of your docs as well or first. You may just be super sensitive to it or have a very small band. My doc told me that I have a 14cc extra large band, so I am having OPPOSITE effects from it. Mine can't seem to get tight enough! And in return am losing much slower then others.

Hope you are finding solutions now, and or getting used to the feeling of having a band.

Good luck!

I am going through the same thing. I have had the band for about a year and a half, a few months after I had the band placed I started having intolerance to food and liquids, I could barely eat, some day were better then others. About a month ago, I woke up one Saturday, and I could not hold down food or liquids, I went to the ER, and they found that the band had slipped, I had surgery a few days later and corrected the slip, I felt great after the surgery, but now I am having the same trouble again. I have been feeling a lot of restriction and food get stuck all the time. I just want to let everyone know, I have not had a fill since day one with this band, I feel this way, with an empty band. I don't know what to do anymore, I really don't want to lose the band, I am so afraid of gaining the weight back. Any thoughts or input will be appreciated....

Have you thought about asking what size band you have? Maybe yours is extra small and they need to put a larger size band in you? I found out from someone else's post that there are different size bands! Mine is an extra large and cant seem to get tight enough, then again they have only put 8cc's into my 14 cc band so far... uhg... I go for another fill tomorrow AM. But yeah, I would totally ask your doc about that!

<_<

Thank you all for your responses. I saw my surgeon on Tuesday and he sent me to have an ultrasound on my gall bladder and scheduled an endoscopy, which I had yesterday. My gall bladder is normal, no stones or anything and he said everything looks good with the endoscopy too, but I had a lot of mucus. I don't know if he just pushed it through or sucked it out, but I was starving by midday yesterday and I was not in my right mind and I just ate some crackers and I kept them down! I have no idea how or why this is happening, but I'm so happy! If it really is because of all of the mucus that was in there then I will need to make sure I don't get so filled up again. My husband got me a neti pot, zyrtec and mucinex to try. I did try the neti pot last night, but I haven't tried the others. Could all of this be caused by some stuck mucus?? I can't wait see me dr for my follow up!

Yeah I totally noticed that the more congested I am, the harder it is to eat. I actually wake up in the middle of the night from it now and have to "discard" the mucus. Gross, but man that makes so much sense!

I can't believe it! Lol! I started taking zyrtec and some micinex and using the netipot. I can't believe what a difference it's made! I'm so relieved that it's not a serious issue too! I was so worried about losing my band! 

me too! I'm so glad you started this topic too, cause I actually took it upon myself as well to work a little harder at clearing the congestion and now I feel even better! great job!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
