Recommended Posts

I like the Centrum, The taste is fine and the Vitamin content is what I want. They are not all created equal : )

I do the gummy vitamins but you have to keep in mind that they don't contain Iron so you may need to take an iron supplement. I also take Biotin and a chocolate chewy Calcium that I got from whole foods.

My doctor recommended Flintsones with Choline. I found the exact same Vitamin (compared them side by side) at costco under their Kirklnad brand for half the money. I also take Gummy Fiber also from Costco, chewable Caltrate 600 (calicum and other suff), gummy Vitamin D, and a Iron pill. I also by a large contain of unflavored benefiber while I'm there which lasts me for probably 5 months.

I use to buy it at costco too. I found it just doesn't have the same kick for me.

Hope it works for you.

Shirley.

I am 1 month post op yesterday. I have trouble with Vitamins keeping me up at night. Even if I take them at 5 in the morning. My surgeon recommended Isotonix vitamins. They are powder and you mix a capful with 2 ounces of Water. They taste like Tang and go down fast. Plus, they are absorbed better than chewables. I liked them so much, I bought the Calcium powder. Again, this tastes like Tang. The taste is citrusy and bright and they go down like a shot. The best thing is they don't keep me up at night. They aren't very expensive either. Plus I don't have any issues with liquids, so around fill time I can still take my daily Vitamin. I can't recommend these enough. Some people say they taste too tart, but for me, I will take this over having caulky vitamin leftovers in my teeth, or the texture of a Gummy bear that seems forever to chew and chew and chew. You can Google "Isotonix" and their website will come up. These are my favorite. bananalama.gif

I take vitafusion gummies multiple Vitamin, also their Fiber gummies too. I also take the generic viactiv Calcium + D chews. I know I can take regular pills, but in the past I'd always forget to take them and since I started the gummies I haven't forgotten, it like my treat in the morning

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
