I wouldnt be so scared, i find that when it goes well, ppl dont find the need to go on boards anymore because everything is good and they inderstand their bands.

Hopefully im right:)

That makes sense. So far I have the opinion that this may be only a temporary thing. Anyone that gets it removed seems to put weight on at alarming rates. I want the lap band. I hope I will never have to have it removed.

Elie is right . When people don't have issues or concerns, they don't typically visit this site often. I'm.sure there are a bunch of veterans out there :) don't worry about it . But it would be cool to hear from a few .

If you want to talk to some long term vets.. try joining http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SmartBandsters Jessie Ahroni who is one of the moderators of that group has had her band way more than 6 years. Also Cynthia on the DFWBandsters list : http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/DFWBandsters is a long term bandster.

Bette B. who posts some on ObesityHelp.com has had hers 5 or 6 years. But be careful with OH, there's lots of negativity going on there recently.

All 3 that I mentioned are doing well with their bands and are successful.

Like previously mentioned, most of those who've been banded a long time and are doing well are out living healthy, happy lives and rarely come to the forums any longer.

I've had mine 3 years and have had no problems. My BFF has had hers for 8 years. She went from over 300 pounds to about 155 and has maintained it. She even battled and beat (knock on wood) ovarian cancer during that time.

That's awesome. Good for her!

I think that a more specific question would have elicited more responses. There's nothing I could say everyone hasn't heard many times already. I exercised like a madwoman and ate no carbs for a year basically. It was hard, but not THAT hard. I did drink alcohol, steal french fries from my children's plates and eat dessert in moderation and have a skim latte or two every day. My top three tips would be to lift weights in addition to doing cardio, eat lots of fish, and to banish Bagels and muffins forever.

Good luck! There are many many satisfied vets out there. There are also only so many "any suggestions for mushies" questions you can answer!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
