jvschultz 0 Posted June 28, 2011 Hi, my name is Julie and I'm considering getting the lap band done. My insurance had an exclusion so I'm going to have to save up for the surgery. However, I just found out the I need to get my gallbladder removed. So my question to you guys is this: Since my gallbladder has to be removed could i do both surgeries (gall bladder and lap band) at the same time? If so, could a doctor bill my insurance for the the gall bladder surgery and I pay cash for the lap band? What I mean is, if the insurance pays for my gall bladder removal they could pay for the anesthesia, dr. Fees, etc, and all I have to pay for is the lap band. Has anyone done this? If so do you know of any dr.s I could go to in the Houston area. Julie
Debora Anne 3 Posted June 28, 2011 I was self pay as well - I had a hernia so my doctor billed the insurance company for the Hernia and I just paid for the band and my co-insurance - deductible for the Hernia repair - I am not sure if you can get the band at the same time as gallbladder removal - Your doctor can answer that question ....
