Too much in the band early on?

Recommended Posts

I just received my third fill last week. I feel great and am losing weight so far. I really feel this is probably my "sweet spot." The thing is I am already at 7.5cc in a 10cc band. My surgeon doesn't seem to think this is a problem, but it does worry me. I got surgery April 20th, 2011 and am down 16lbs. I did start off smaller than others I've seen at 214. Has anyone else experienced this or know someone who has? Thank you!

Hi. We have the same band date!!! I am at 6.4CC and was not worrying until I started seeing posts questioning this. Your post is the second one today. FYI I started smaller than you at 185.

I had fill number two last week and except for that afternoon I can't feel any difference. I am loosing weight though so I am happy!!

What exactly is worrying you- that your band is so "close" to full? If it helps, as you lose fat around your stomach, and your band needs to be tightened, it's a TINY increase. I'm talking like, 1/4 cc. So there's no need to worry that you're going to fill it up too far or anything like that.

Unless that's not your concern...

Oh that is sooo cool that we have the same date. It sounds like we are very similar. I was getting worried when I would see people at like 7cc in at 15cc band, but again I do know I am smaller than most. I was just worried cause it seems so close to being full. Talk to you soon

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
