leilaniessence 1 Posted June 26, 2011 I had a completely emotional "moment" today and my "instinct" of reaching for comfort food IMMEDIATELY kicked in. Here's the thing. Usually I would not have realized what I was doing until it was too late. Since I am (1) only recently banded, (2) still very sore, (3) can't drink more than 3-4oz of any Fluid, I realized RIGHT AWAY that I was in the process of "stuffing" myself. More importantly, I realized that I was doing this BECAUSE I was emotional and was able to quickly pinpoint what had been my "trigger point." Wow. Never happened before. I've got a LOT of learning to do. But.... just another reason that this lap-band is so important to me. It's helping me in ways I hadn't expected. (Yes, I stopped stuffing myself and just DEALT with what was going on.)
Humming Bird 275 Posted June 26, 2011 It's good that you are aware of what was happening. For me, the first year was all a learning experience when it comes to situations like the one you posted about. I find it helpful to find something else to turn to instead of food like cleaning house or sewing.
kittyforet 50 Posted June 26, 2011 I totally feel your pain!!! I've walked around my kitchen looking for something that I'm not physically ready to have but wanted so badly!! I have to stop myself, for I know that once I start I probably wouldn't be able to stop!! But then I have to remind myself I didn't pay all that money and go through all this pain just to throw it away.....if I am patient I will be be able to eat small portions of what I want soon enough. I'm glad that you learned something but also that you shared it with us so we can learn from it to. Hang in there!
