Wheetsin 714 Posted January 26, 2006 LB usually has some cute formals - trendy cuts, and no really big sleeves. http://lanebryant.charmingshoppes.com/Shopping/thumbnails.aspx?attr=904&whichpage=1 The good thing about LB is that they usually fit taller gals too (I'm 5'10 also)
puddin 7 Posted January 26, 2006 When I need formals for cruises I get them at this site: http://www.alight.com/cat-0009-dresses-1241.html
Jill_S 1 Posted January 26, 2006 We have David's here! Thanks! But check out this awesome site, OH NO, I'm gonna go broke here! http://store.yahoo.com/alight-com/index.html I found Alight about 2 years ago. And the first order to them broke me lol. They had a TON of the big bell sleeve hippie kinda shirts that I loved.
HeatherGurl 0 Posted January 26, 2006 What size do you need??? I have a bridesmaid dress that I never got to wear and it is just gorgeous. I could mail it to you and you can see if you like it? It is a halter dress... I will find a picture online ... It was from David's Bridal, and I wanted to wear it so bad!!!
vinesqueen 2 Posted January 27, 2006 Where can I get one in size Lumberjack? I need it by March. Ug. Correction, you need an Amazon sized. Amazons are sexy. Well, Lumberjacks are sexy too, but in a differet, hairier sort of way.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted January 27, 2006 I found Alight about 2 years ago. And the first order to them broke me lol. They had a TON of the big bell sleeve hippie kinda shirts that I loved. OMG I was going to suggest Alight as well. That place is crazy cool!!!
Mariposa Bella 3 Posted January 27, 2006 I would try Dillards, they have tons of dresses on sale at this time, I bought a formal for my brother-in-law's wedding and it was on clearance and then had an additional 30% off, I paid $50 for a gorgeous gown. The selection was very good, give them a try before you go out and spend tons of money on a dress you'll probably only wear one time, cause if your anything like me, you wouldn't dare show up to another special event with a repeater dress. Kryssa 1 Posted January 27, 2006 Oh, have you came to the right place to ask. I LOVE to shop, and I had to have a couple of formal outfits for a cruise recently so I have found ALL the plus-size cocktail dress websites. I've listed them below. Good luck! SizeAppeal.com As long as you don't mind sleeveless, this one is awesome. Kiyonna.com This is actually where I bought one of my dresses. Beautiful! Torrid.com Sometimes they have dresses, and if they do, they're cute. Igigi.com Oh oh so pretty! This is where I got the other dress. catherines.charmingshoppes.com In case you don't have the store... jessicalondon.com It's either great or granny, but you can look. elisabeth.com For the label concious. DeLarla 22 Posted January 27, 2006 Thanks everyone! I'll start tomorrow morning at David's Bridal, then Dillards, Nordstrom & Torrid since they're all pretty close to each other. If I don't find something there, I'll shop online. Not only do I need a formal, but the ball is Mardi Gras themed so 500 women are looking for purple, green & gold dresses. I'm on a mission for sure! I found a green velvet dress from last year's clothing exchange but I'm not sure if it's alterable, but it's not long, and I like the long & sexy dresses that Jenna posted. The amazing thing about the green velvet is that it was my incentive dress. Nobody wanted it at the exchange and it was too small to zip on me. I tried it on this morning and it fell off! Woop woop! Jen, it's for our Slumber Convention Mardi Gras Ball in New Orleans.

Jill_S 1 Posted January 29, 2006 This is all coming in very handy for me, too. My stepdaughter is getting married in May and I need something that looks very "too young to be her real mother" and makes her dad wish we'd never split up
