feistybeagle 0 Posted June 25, 2011 Banded by Dr. Kircshenbaum in Denver, great guy. Nutritionist called me prior to surgery for after banding diet advice. Unfortunately no one spoke about potential Constipation. I know your not suppose to do Valsalva maneuvers like holding your breath while picking up a weight but if constipated you naturally do some valsavla manueuver. I am concerned about adding Miralax which I have. What advice for those with constipation? I had a hiatal hernia and have some radiating shoulder pain from abdomen area which I was warned about. He also fixed the hiatal hernia for me. I need advice before i have to call him after hours. i am soooooo afraid of this thing slipping. Other than that I am doing great. Donna. Banded_Kris 0 Posted June 25, 2011 Donna, I am having he same problem. I was banded on May 31st and that has been my only problem since. The Constipation that is. I have found Benefiber mix-ins for your Water. It is a flavorless powder that you mix in any liquid. I mix it in my water with a crystal light mix-in and drink one a day. I find that it does help. Good luck!
jen120 23 Posted June 25, 2011 You will definitely have Constipation right after surgery. I didnt have a BM for 4 days. Then I didnt have any issue until I started solid food. Now I am definitely constipated and I have started using Miralax. I think it would be ok for you.

Acadia 20 Posted June 27, 2011 Any fiber drink mix should work and won't make your system work too hard. If it doesn't work, mix 1 L of Water with 2 tsp natural sea salt. Dissolve the salt in hot water first then mix with a large quantity of cold water to make it easier. It will go through you FAST. Be near a toilet. And make sure you have around three hours because it can take a while to clear out completely.
