Recommended Posts

My band slipped and I had it repaired about a month ago. It was horrible, I could not get anything down. I went to the hospital on a Saturday because I was not able to keep Water down, I was operated on Thursday. It was the worst few days of my life. I saw the x ray of the upper GI, and my stomach had prolapsed over the band, it was very strange. We also found out, that my esophagus it a bit dialated. I have lost a total of 70lbs. with no Fluid in the band. Since day 1, I have had restriction with the fills. I don't know why, not even my doctor can explain it. The repair was very easy, and I recovered almost immediately.

So sorry you had to deal with it for days, awww i do know the pain. So u never got stuck, it just happened? and do you have fills now?

Im almost back to new, gave me a 4cc fill and i fill fine, i will admit im scared to eat,but my dr said that i had no problems b4 , and he is right.

Do you know if your surgeon stiched your tummy over your band to keep it in place?

Hi Melissa! Very very weird but I had the same doctor and the same exact thing happen to me - i got stuck on a piece of tofu (serious - not a cookie tofu) and had emergency surgery at Bon Secors. I was banded in March and then had the repair done in May. Do you go to the meeting there?

In my case, yes it was done lapriscopically (sp). My initial banding was a single incision thru my belly button, but for the repair with it was norm 6 small holes

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
