Just a couple days away from Clear Liquids only. Banded next Tuesday in Monterrey, NL, MX. Kind of excited. Hasn't all kicked in, yet. I've got a big event Saturday night that several of us have been working on for months. Need to get through that first. Then Sunday will be all crazy OMG-I-leave-for-Mexico-in-a-few-hours-when-did-this-happen.

liquid diet hasn't been too bad - have had reduced energy due to such low calories (500-800). Acupuncture's been a great help with sleep (insomnia due to nerves), joint pain (osteoarthritis), and catching a cold because I can't have any herbs, supplements, vits, over the counters due to surgery so near.

Two GREAT books that have really been helpful: "Bandwagon" and "Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Wight Successful"

Happy Banding and Good Mojo to ALL

Yay! I got my approval today and I'll be banded on August 15 at 2:00 p.m. I wonder if they'll let me go home that night if I'm having it done that late? Anybody have it done that late who went home the same day?

Hi everyone, I'm Rebecca... I'm also getting banded on August 15 at 2:00pm. :) Sydney Australia time though - not sure what time zone you are on.

I only met my surgeon today, and he slotted me in for the 15th! I have to do 7 days on Optifast prior to the surgery.

How excitingscary!

I have my surgery scheduled for Aug. 2nd!!! I'm getting it in Seattle at the Swedish Hospital through the Swedish Weight Loss Center. I highly recommend them to anyone- they really take over all the tricky insurance stuff and line-up your appointments for you. All my pre-surgery tests and appointments are done, I've got my work covered for the rest of that week, and I have my pre & post surgery medicines/vitamins all bought and lined-up. I AM SO READY!!!!!!!!!!!

Pre op means Pre operation. Anything you do before your surgery is considered pre op

Today is my last visit with my pcp before my surgery. I have to sit with her to go over my medical clearance and I am happy its coming to a closing. I decided that I willbe starting a blog tonight. I'm kind of excited about documenting the upcoming days and my journey with the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
