Hello, I am a 19 year old 270 pound college student, standing at 5'4/5'5. I've been over weight my whole life, and i think now is the time to make changes! I am seriously considering the Lap Band surgery. It would be greatly appreciated if you informed me with everything you know about the surgery: pre-op diets, post-op info, does it hurt? how long is the pre op process? how much weight do you lose monthly? how long does it take to recover after the surgery? I know its alot but I need to know lol Thank you so much!

I highly suggest taking the time to read anything and everything you can on this forum. I'm pretty much the same height and weight as you and am getting my surgery next month... So as of now, im not much of a help. But I will suggest checking with your health insurance and making sure they cover the surgery. Also, each insurance has different requirements for how long the pre-op will take. Mine required 3 months of monitored dieting prior to surgery. Anyway, good luck on your weight loss journey!

Get the book Bandwagon on Amazon and read everything you can! There are several surgery options out there and you have to find one that works best for you. You are young and have your entire life ahead of you-losing weigh can help make the quality of your life so much better! When you go to the tab "Lapband Form" scroll way down and find your age group and see if you can find support there as well.

The Lapband takes a lot of work. The 1st day of surgery you will be sore, but each day you feel better. Some people get terrible gas pains-but I didn't.

Expect to lose a little pre-surgery and directly after surgery, but for the first 2 months you will be questioning why you did this. Then, hopefully, you will ave the right fill to your band and your weight loss journey will finally seem worth it.

For some peope it takes months before surgery, but for me it only took 6 weeks after my first doctor's visit. You will have to get lots of tests done.

The lapband isn't a magic bullet. It takes educating yourself every day and patience and determination.

I wish you lots of luck on your journey!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
