Take progression photos of yourself

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks post-op today and had pictures taken of myself this morning (I also did the night before surgery) and WOW!! I don't feel like I had lost all that much weight or slimmed down that much, but seeing the pictures put me in a GREAT mood!! I would highly suggest everyone do the same to actually see the progress being made. :-)

Absolutely! And try to do it wearing the same clothes...that will really show your progression!

Stand in a doorway and wear the same or similar clothes. Take a picture every month and then make a power point of yourself shrinking!

I took pictures in my bathing suit- I made a scrapbook. The psychologist involved with my wls team suggested taking a picture once a month- I added the suit and the scrapbook. She emphasized not to look at the pics with judgement, just give your brain a chance to keep up with your changing body.

I wish I'd have done this; in a size 2 and still seeing a size 20 sometimes. BDD is kicking my a$$ I think.

Surely you can find some old photos of yourself, Rev. I'm struggling with some bad head games lately too. I feel guilty for the one meal a day that I do eat. Are you in therapy? I've been talking to my therapist a lot about this lately and I'm hoping that will help. Don't let it get the best of you by diminishing your success! You've been an inspiration to me, Rev! Give yourself a break! You rock.

Aw, thanks Check, you're the best! I do have old photos, it just seems that some days I see the difference, some days I'm like uhh..am I really still huge? Lol. It's all a mind game. I'm sure my brain is just playing catch-up, after all dropping 115+ in a year is a drastic change, I guess it just takes time to get used to who I am now.

Definitely don't feel guilty about eating! I went through that phase as well, then I realized that with my exercise and things I do throughout the day, there is no way I can gain true weight. Keep your head up and remember food really isn't the enemy. You are well aware of what you're eating now. You're definitely an inspiration as well! :) <3

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
