AMayo1 2 Posted June 24, 2011 I went to my orientation last night. I know my insurance and the group require a 10% weight loss. So I started dieting and exercising to lose the weight. Of the 32 pounds I lost 9 so far. The problem is, they said the 10% weight loss is based on your first appointment and not what I weighed when I saw my primary. Has anyone else been told not to do weight loss until your first appointment? They are booking out 3 weeks and I they require hat you think through the week end and wait till Monday to make the initial appointment

We are a nation of obese people. We are asking for help - help us ! If we were smokers - insurance companies are more than to help ! (stepping off my soapbox). AMayo1 2 Posted June 24, 2011 Luckily my insuramce company does cover i...I checked this morning. The doctor's group wanted people to check before they made the first appointment. The doctor requires the 10% weight loss. My insurance comapny as it turns out is a 5% and you have up to 6 months to lose it. I will know better once I get their requirements in the mail. ButterflyM 2 Posted June 25, 2011 Not sure where it initiated from but my dr's office said the 10%. & they said that i have to be at the weight when i go in for my 2 week pre op lectures! Luckily I started cutting back after my initial informational session when they weighed me in. Good Luck! I have about 8 lbs left to loose in 3 weeks!
