I'm banded! It went to smoothly that I was discharged the same day!! This so so surreal and exciting!!! Looking forward to my new life. Would love to talk to any others who are newly banded or will be banded soon.

:)

I got banded yesterday and went home same day. Feels like someone hit me in stomach. Can't seem to swallow much. So take things easy and sip small.

Was banded on thursday the 23, still hurting some. Strange feeling in chest I can't decide what it means. Is it gas or am I drinking too much too fast. It feels like a pressure on my chest but not a feeling I've had before. I've had shoulder surgery before and don't think it is gas but could be wrong

I was banded on June 22nd. Besides the gas pressure, I'm feeling pretty good. It's a whole new lifestyle and it seems a little overwhelming but I try not to let it freak me out. Now my questions... How did you get the weight loss tickers on your profiles? I went to the wb site and created one and I'm not sure how to link it to my profile.

I was banded on June 22, 2011. The only pain that I have had is the shoulder/chest pain from the gas. It was so bad I wanted to cut my arm off. I called the doctor and they told me to take liquid motrin and that helped. Today, June 25, I have not taken any pain medication. I'm pretty tired of the liquid diet already, and I have 9 days left of this! I feel hungry and wish I could eat. The first couple of days after banding I had no discomfort at all. Today, however, I feel pressure in my stomach, it is like a side ache. I'm guessing it is because I'm drinking too fast? Does anyone have any ideas on how to vary the liquid diet? I have the drinks I purchased at my doctors office, VHP in vanilla, chocolate and a cream of chicken Soup. I also have the Slim Fast Low Carb drinks in chocolate. They all taste good, I'm just tired of them already.....I sometimes wonder what I have done to myself....but I must win this battle. I'm 64, almost 65, and I want the rest of my life to be healthier and have the ability to do more things that my weight has prevented me from doing. I'm afraid I'm going to fail. A lot of emotions right now.....is this normal?

I was banded on the 23rd, stayed over night in hospital (my insurance companies rule). I live 2 hours from the hospital and that wore me out a little. I took one dose of pain meds before I left the hospital, one when I came home and one the next night before bad. Didn't really need the last dose but thought it might help me sleep. The gas pains are still with me near my shoulder and they are wicked!!

While I've been very hungry, the abdominal pain has been minimal. I have no energy but I think that's because I'm on clear fluids. Tomorrow I can start full liquids so I think I will feel much better then.

I was surprised that my surgeon told my friend who was waiting for me that my band was one of the easiest he has done in a long time. She told him that I had followed the diet to a T and he said it showed. So do some people go through all this hassle (at least my insurance route was a tooth and nail fight) and then not follow the first instructions??? Unbelievable!

Can't wait to be able to eat and actually chew something! Oh well, it will happen soon enough.

BTW, I'm still having trouble sleeping. Doesn't seem to be pain waking me up, I just leek at the clock about every two hours.

Try sleeping in a Recliner. Add some pillows, and get comfortable.

If you have one.

Linda I think your emotions are totally normal. To make a decision to restrict ourselves, when we have made it a lifestyle to indulge - is a scary thing. Not to mention that many of us are emotional eaters, or tend to use food to make us feel "full" in emotional ways as well. Feeling that emptiness can be scary for us. It's important that you have a therapist you're comfortable with that you can open up to about the frustrations, issues, fears, etc. I love my therapist and my surgeon even requires a one month and three month post-op visit with him to make sure everything is copacetic.

Keep in mind too, that you can always use a blog, journal, or this board to sound off or get feedback on things. And I'm sure your surgeon's office has resources as well. :)

Good luck!!

I was banded Friday too! I'm on full liquids, but I'm having difficulty discerning between being full and just the tenderness and bloat from surgery. And I'm hungry! All in all though I'm excited and hopeful. Would love to share the journey with you and others who were very recently banded! Easy healing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
