Frustrating 2 weeks

I am so frustrated that I havent lost any weight in 2 weeks. Yes, I am only 5 weeks post-op but I started at 415 pounds. With the huge amount of weight I have to lose, after the initial big loss, I feel like I should be dropping 2-3 pounds a week. I have lost 35 including the pre-op diet. I am currently eating 800-1100 calories a day, usually about 100 grams of Protein, maybe 30 grams of fat, and usually less than 50 grams of carbs a day. Even with no fill, I am not hungry between meals. Since I was very sedentary and very out of shape prior to surgery, I have started exercising very slowly. This week I've started riding a stationary bike for 10-15 minutes a day. (I cant walk due to severe arthritis in one knee). I am also doing some "chair exercises", mostly stretching and some strength moves. I know I need to be patient and I am going to continue with the program. I just want to see results and feel thinner!

Also, I am so lonely. I lost my best friend (he is a guy and I was in love with him and he didnt feel the same for me.) because he got back together with his old girlfriend from 4 years ago and now he is so in love he wants to get married. My heart couldnt take it. I was destroyed emotionally. I had to cut off all contact because I just couldnt take it anymore. We used to talk on the phone for 2 hours a day and I really miss him and our friendship. I must admit, part of my motivation for the surgery was that maybe if I lost weight he would fall in love with me.

I know I'm jumping all over the place. I really just needed to get this off my chest...

Oh Jeannette, I'm so sorry :( My theory is that after the big loss post-surgery, your body panics and holds on to weight for a while. I just think of it as your body yelling I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S HAPPENING and then internally crossing her arms and stomping her feet. It WILL start up again, it sounds like you're doing everything right!

Make sure you're getting enough Water in your day, and you might even want to up your fat intake a bit. Hang in there!

that so so so sucks big time. (about the guy i mean)

just hang in there. i had the same stall with weight loss. i felt like every day that i got on the scale, it hadn't moved at all. i knew to expect that and just did my best to stick to what my doctor said.

i am actually pretty terrible when compared to the other bandsters here. i mean, i still eat out probably once or twice a week. i have had chicken mcnuggets (which i used to loathe) several times in the past month. i have not even paid attention to the fat or the carb part of it, but am paying attention to the Protein part of it, trying to get enough of that and eat Protein first, and trying to not go over 1,200 calories if i can help it.. yadda, yadda, yadda.

i know that you are going to start losing quickly once your starvation mode dissipates. make sure that you are getting enough calories though. getting too few will stall the weight loss most likely .

i turned down my first fill because i am losing at a good rate at the moment, but i'm going on vacation in a week, so i hope i don't gain back what i have lost. i will do my very best, and then reassess the situation at my next dr. visit and get that fill.

anyway, so sorry for everything you are going through, i can't imagine trying to deal with food issues on top of feeling rejected by someone i was so close to. you just stick to what you are supposed to do and you will show him!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
