Yesterday was my 6 week follow up and my first opportunity to get a fill. When I weighed in I was down 21 lbs in 6 weeks. Not bad. That averages 3.5 lbs a week. So far so good.

I am currently happy with my level of restriction. I am counting calories and going 4 days week (at least) to the gym. So I think for right now it was the right move to not get a fill. My surgeon was fine with that as long as I am losing the weight.

There are many ways to get to the same destination in weight loss...and right now I feel I am on a good path. :)

This is an encouraging post! Congrats on your success thus far. These kind of posts make it easier for me to say yes to being banded. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with you...I didn't get my 1st (and only) fill until 3 months after surgery. If you are losing well and happy with your level of restriction then there's no reason to get a fill.

Keep up the good work!!

I am so glad you posted this! This is something I've been wondering about. I've been losing weight really quickly, and I feel a good amount of restriction and I stay full for a good 4 or 5 hours after I have my mushies; plus I started with 2ccs in the band... so I'm wondering if I will have to get a fill or not. It's good to know that you don't absolutely have to. I'll definitely have my doctor look at it, and decide; but maybe I won't have to get a fill this time.

Of course, I still have another 3 and a half weeks to determine this, but this post gives me something to consider. Thanks!

Also, congrats on your progress, it looks like you're doing really well, that rocks!

Like you, I recently had my 6 week post op, and I'm averaging the same weight loss. My doctor said that I definately needed no fill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
