JRZZZZZZZZZZ!:):P

I saw this show back in April when on va-k and it scared the **** out of me. I spoke with my Dr. about it because I like you thought................ WTH? 6 months post-op and she is still eating broth and yogurt by spoonfuls? "Mediated Reality" is what I think ! I mean I am only 5 days post op and cannot say for sure but none of my research makes me believe it - right????

I watched the first clip from the dr. oz show and I can't figure out how this woman is eating only spoonfuls of food. Are we suppose to eat solids? I thought she said she was 6 months post - op , unless I heard wrong. I eat more than that and I am almost 1 month post-op!

Watching this now and what a load of Cr@P! This woman is obviously too tight. Programs and people like this give banding a bad rep.

Of course she should be eating solids and if she was only eating 5 teaspoons of yogurt then she would probably be constantly hungry and would be eating sliders far more often than 3 times per day.

I hate shows like this.

No, it's wrong! I now have a ot less respect for Dr.Oz-I thought his team would give more accurate info than this! I mean really!! I ate this much maybe the first few days post surgery. I am eating regular meals now!!

Don't hold too much weight in Dr. Oz. He's a tv personality first and a doctor second. He has a dermatologist frequent his show and write blogs on his site who is nothing more than a rich ex-practicing doctor who does not see any patients and only keeps the medical license to make her expensive cosmeceuticals.

I saw that episode and thought it was either very irresponsible for him to present those women as the norm, or it was truly him intentionally pushing his negative opinion of WLS by showing an unrealistic and unhealthy extreme.

In lapband blog land, we had lots of responses to this show and a lot of people posted what they ate at 6 months to dispel the idea that that woman was typical OR healthy. Clearly she's too too tight, so it's a shame Oz put her on as the face of lapband because now when she slips and/or damages her esophagus from chronic acid reflux, everyone is going to think that's normal too.

Here's an example: http://cheeseandsunkist.blogspot.com/2011/04/dear-dr-ozget-me-on-your-showasap.html

That is CRAZY. 5 spoons of yogurt, maybe 1/2 cup of broth and 4 spoons of pudding? And she says if there are any lumps in the Soup it's "hard to get down"? I wonder how she's doing now. I really hope she's had an unfill.

Interesting! I am going to assume that you did not watch all of this episode...

I watched the same on about a month ago and after the second girl talks about what she eat he wnt back to her and laughed at how little she eats. He

said, " I could eat all of this in one sitting." Later to have her MENTION well this is what is eaten shortly after surgery. I was shocked too when she said that was all she ate, but after her comment, I was relieved to know that this was not portrayed as to what Bandsters eat. Hope this helps... Watch the rest of the episode...

That episode pissed me off too. There were so many potential WLS people who were NOT served well by the portrayal on Dr. Oz.

The thing that bugged me the most was when he tossed an apple to the lady who was pre-op and told her to enjoy her last apple. PURE SHOCK VALUE.

Remember, it's TV & Entertainment.. not the real world.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
