ReJoyce 1 Posted June 22, 2011 Ok, I have another question. I am not banded yet, but I have friends who are. One can't hardly eat and resorts to mashed potatoes, chips and milkshakes. What I want to know, is if I get like that, can I at least resort to Protein Shakes so I am getting the Protein in? I don't want all those calories and carbs. Rachel412 116 Posted June 22, 2011 Well sure, you could have Protein Shakes in that circumstance. But if she's too tight, that's really easily remedied by removing a small amount of Fluid. So there's really no good reason for you to ever be in the situation she's in- unless she has some more serious health problem going on. What she's choosing are called "slider foods" because they "slide" down so easily, don't get stuck, and you can eat a ton of them. If I were you I'd talk to her and get some more info on why she can't eat anything else.
54Shirley 105 Posted June 23, 2011 She's to tight ! She should be drinking Protein Shakes anyway... Now your getting a chance to see what being to tight is. Remember that ! If it happens to you. You can go in and get some Fluid taken out of the band. Once the swelling has gone down, your Dr. can add a little more back.
ReJoyce 1 Posted June 24, 2011 Thank you. It just annoyed me, but since I am not banded yet, I didn't feel like I could really say. I was just thinking, nutritionly it would be better if she had Protein Shakes instead of the carb and calorie laden milkshake. I am trying to educate myself as much as possible for when it is my turn. Thank you so much for the feedback.
