stleochic 5 Posted June 21, 2011 My surgeon will only fill my band every two months, so I had my surgery in March and have just had my second fill yesterday. I feel like this pace will never get me anywhere. I really want to get to a good restriction. Should I change doctors? Has anyone changed their doctor for their fills? vlp1968 83 Posted June 21, 2011 My doctor did fills once a month, even sooner if I wanted one. I would go to your doc. and explain how much your eating and how hungry you are. You might even want to keep a journal. With all that data, he may just be willing to give you a fill.
vickyd 24 Posted June 21, 2011 My doctor gives the first fill at 6 weeks post op and then you see them monthly after that. I would call to see if you can go ahead and schedule a fill for next month...you can always cancel it if you don't need it...
roziecakes 20 Posted June 21, 2011 I agree with what others have said above, my doctors plan is that after six weeks I get one, and then once a month after that, so yeah, yours doesn't seem too often. As for getting other doctors to do fills, I think it depends on your surgeon. I know that mine is okay with me doing it, especially since I'm an 8 hour drive away from his office. Rachel412 116 Posted June 21, 2011 My surgeon waits 6 weeks after surgery, then I can get fills every 2 weeks after that.
njm 0 Posted June 21, 2011 Mine does the first one at six weeks and then every two months. I've never tried to move the appt up, so I don't know if he would do it. For me, it helps to learn some self control. I've lost 85 lbs in the first 10 months, so it certainly can work. I've had five fills and I am just short of 3cc's in a 14 cc band. Oh, and I am very seldom physically hungry. Some times I just want to eat and that, I work at controlling.
54Shirley 105 Posted June 21, 2011 If interested: Google Fill Center U.S.A..... You will have to enter your zip code, and it will tell you where the closest fill center is to you. You go when you feel like you need it. This is the only fill center that I know of, besides your Dr...

I just had my third fill, I'm at 4.5 cc's. I'm still working on ignoring head hunger and trying to listen more to my body. Congrats on the stats!

Beachy_Babs 5 Posted June 22, 2011 My doctors office only does fills every two months too. I think they do that because they want to see how much you can lose within those two months with x- amount of fill. Good luck !

I guess it would also depend on how much he/she is putting in at each fill. I reached my sweet spot at fill number 2 with 5.3cc. I think I went for about 9 months without going back after that and then the next time was another 10 months. Right now I'm at 5.2cc and maintaining. It's frustrating until you find your sweet spot, but then should be pretty much smooth sailing.
