Recommended Posts

HELLLLOOO!!!

Well im glad to say i was banded 6/13/11 and today makes it 1 full week since surgery! Ive lost 11lbs!!!! :) the liquid diet is not tough at all and im trying my best to have a positive attitude towards the whole ordeal! HOWEVER....i dont know if its because im still healing but there are times that i cant sit down bc of a PAIN and "pinch...poking" sensation where my stomach is. No where else on my body is hurting EXCEPT for my left side where the band is. I called my Doctor and he advised me that im still healing andi just need to give it time. However, i can stand and could be fine the whole day. I work for a cell phone company and im on my feet alll day 7-8 hrs a day and yes its hard and I get out of breath a lil, and I CANNOT bend down bc it hurts too much but when it comes to SITTING!!!....woah it HURTS!!! and driving is soooo tough as well.....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anyone else is having problems as well or has some advise please help me out! BTW i had surgery monday morning and was back to work on FRIDAY!

Thanks Vanessa!

I was banded 6/14 so I am right there with you! Have you used an ice pack at all? I had the same kind of pain especially where my port is so I started using the ice pack a lot more especially at night time and it really helped. I still get a little pain when Im sitting down/up or bending down but its bearable.

Is the pain where your port is- right by your biggest incision? Your port is attached to your abdominal muscles, and it'll be the pain that takes it the longest to go away. Sitting up twisting, especially bending- that all hurts like crazy in the beginning. I'm a little over 2 months out now and it still hurts if I bend and twist the wrong way, but 99.9% of the time it's totally fine.

Vanessa,

Sounds like you are doing much better than most people do after surgery! Your body has been cut and stitched around your abdomen so of course it's going to be tender for a bit. It took me about three weeks to be able to just plop myself down on the sofa. So give it a bit more time - it will go away - I'm sure of it.

Good for you for getting back into the swing of things so fast!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
