Avoid at any cost!!!! Beware!!! The doctor scheduled me for a major surgery - colon removal, without looking at my test results. As soon as I entered his office he started drawing and explaining how he was going to remove my colon - that is a very painful suregry and the recovery time is 6-12 weeks; plus, one loses a MAJOR ORGAN. I asked if he had looked at my test results - the answer was "no". But, nevertheless, he scheduled the surgery and was going to do it "Open" - not even laporoscopically (it is more expensive that way!!!). I was going to become a victim of his incompetence!!!! Came to find out that the surgery to remove my sigmoid colon(!) was unnecessary - all I had were muscle spasms and hemmorrhoids! The spasms went away after one shot. Dr. George Mutafyan was going to remove my sigmoid colon in a 2-hour surgery, and leave me an invalid for the rest of my life!!!! Avoid butchers in doctor's garb!!! Get a second opinion!!! My case manager at the *** caught the mistake, otherwise I was going to be in bed right now recovering from a major surgery - REMOVAL OF MY COLON, WHICH DR. GEORGE MUTAFYAN SCHEDULED WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT MY TEST RESULTS!!!

Dr. George Mutafyan, in my opinion, is incompetent and has no heart!!!! Avoid at any cost!!!

Oh, sure, he will sweettalk you into having a major unneccessary surgery, such as cutting and removing your colon; he will explain the procedure in detail; but, ask him why he feels that it is necessary to remove as major an organ as a colon, and he will not have an answer: " Oh, I have not looked at your CT scan yet".

Dr. George Mutafyan scheduled my surgery to remove my colon without looking at my test results, which indicated that my colon was not infected or inflamed!!! He got the surgery apprived by my ***. I was scheduled for a pre-op blood test and a pre-op visit to the hospital on Wednesday, and the surgery was the next day!!! My *** caught the mistake by looking at my test results and yanked the authorization!!! A Major organ removal without any justification!!! Very expensive surgery!!! I was going to be acquainted with Depends very quickly - he had scheduled the removal of my sigmoid colon in an "Open" procedure; recovery time is 6-12 weeks and then a whole year to become semi-normal, without a colon.

Did I mention it was going to be a very expensive surgery?!!! I had a good insurance plan. I am also a very soft-spoken and polite person. Do you think people like me make perfect victims? Did I trust an incompetent butcher-wolf in sheep's clothing?

Do not trust Dr. Mutafyan!!!!

I stand behind my opinion - he probably knows who I am and I am ready to prove what I said about him. George Mutafyan knows what he did!!! He cost me and my family sleepless nights and worries. Avoid Dr. George Mutafyan!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
