Recommended Posts

I have a quick question for Jodie. Did you have to get all your fill taken out when you became pregnant ? ?:preggers:

Thanks for your warm welcome Parvathi.

Just so you know, Bathurst & Orange is around 3hrs west of Sydney over the Blue Mountains past Lithgow. You may of heard of the V8 car races they have in Bathurst around the October long weekend....

Would love to hear of anyone from around this area, well from any area really. Till next time, happy banding

Trish

Hi Trish,

I was expecting to have my fill taken out, but because I had been gaining (badly needed a fill) my surgeon said I was ok, and infact offered to give me a small fill if I really wanted to. He was pleased that I didn't want to have a fill though. I need a fill many months before I became pregnant but couldn't get to my surgeon at the time.

Thanks for your comments on my site. I really do need to update it, but I guess I have put it on hold cos I want to make a new one.

Congratulations on your loss so far, and you will find that your fill should make a difference. Slow is better than not at all!:)

Hi Trish

I am not really that close, I am about 2 hrs off Sydney in Newcastle. My other half is actually is Bathurst as we speak working away again...always away working *sigh* ;).

As fir only losing 9kgs, thats 9kgs gone forever, and until you are properly restricted the band isnt really working its full potential for us. Proper restriction and a bit of exercise *like I can talk* and wahlahhhh you are on your way.

Hope to see you around more.

Hi Kellie,

Was good to hear from you. I had a look at your web page & it's very helpfull. How on earth did you find the time...

You have done so well on your weight loss, congratulations. You seem like the kind of person that would be a lot of fun (on or off the drink) lol.

It's a pitty you live in Newcastle, would of been a scream to catch up on each others stories over a cuppa (bit far to travel just for a cuppa)

I rang the Dr yesterday & i'm back down to Ashfield next Thursday for my 4th fill. I have 2.5mls at the moment. So here's to better restriction, & wahlahhh, i'll be on my way..........Hope your better half is home real soon

Trish

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
