Hi all,

I had my surgery in August of last year. Unfortunately, it hasn't started working until just a few months ago. I actually GAINED weight for the first months after surgery. I have now lost around 30 pounds (including the weight I gained post-surgery) but the weight loss has been very minimal/slow.

I tried to go on Weight Watchers but found that was too much food for me to eat. I really don't eat much (my band is pretty tight) and while I wouldn't say I eat the best, I'm not a super unhealthy eater. I don't exercise at a gym much, but I'm a pretty active person in terms of going out and participating in things in general.

I'm wondering what anyone else who is post surgery has done to find success losing weight. I am a little frustrated at how drastic the decision to get surgery was, while the results have been pretty minimal. I almost feel like I'm eating too little and stunting my metabolism!

Any advice/ideas or shared plans would be great appreciated! Thanks!

Amy

Cut out the carbs and sugar. Adkins has always worked for me and now we are going Paleo.

I would recommend using a program like myfitnesspal to track your eating habits. This will allow you to see how many calories, cabs, fats, and Proteins you are eating. You can also track you activity output as well. For me, I always felt like I did not eat much but with the help of this type of program I can see exactly what bad habits I need to break. Good luck!

My 2 cents is to get into a regular excersisie routine. It is a huge piece of the puzzle. There are so many benefits, just one being weight loss. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. You can do it! Best wishes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
