tengles 0 Posted June 19, 2011 Any good recipes or variations for chicken broth. I do not like the canned stuff and so I need to flavor it up so I can get it down. Also did anyone have no appetite after surgery and did not eat, how was recovery? I have a pretty low appetite after I have any surgery (had c section in 2008, back surgery in 2009 and another back surgery 2010) where I just was not hungry. Cindy C 150 Posted June 19, 2011 Put chicken, carrots, celery, onions and whatever other vegetables you like in the crock pot along with salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil etc and cook it all day or overnight. Pour it through a strainer and throw the hunks away.
Beida 2 Posted June 19, 2011 Thanks Cindy, this sounds great, I will have to try it after my surgery on the 28th.
Cindy C 150 Posted June 19, 2011 You can make it ahead and put it in small containers in the freezer.
stateofzen 46 Posted June 20, 2011 Just in case, I found a pre-made chicken broth that tastes pretty good: http://www.pacificfoods.com/our-foods/broths/organic-ls-chicken-broth It might be worth if you're on-the-go.
Rachel412 116 Posted June 20, 2011 Make chicken stock but roast all the veggies and the chicken pieces in the oven before you throw them in the stock pot. Cook for hours until the stock thickens up. YUM.
tengles 0 Posted June 20, 2011 That sounds good to roast the chicken and veggies first.
