I have been banded for 6 mos. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery. I have had 3 fill since surgery. Why am I only losing inches and not pounds? Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a reason for it? I have gone down 2 pant sizes but I can't move the scale??

This is my typical day:

Can't eat anything in the AM...too tight

Hot tea

12:00-1:00 Greek yogurt with high Protein granola

5:00 dinner with family....chicken, ground turkey....no Pasta or bread

8:00 snack...Mertz cheese and wheat thins

Usually some kind of chocolate during the day=1 handful of choco chips or glass choco milk

Suggestions??

No exercise worth documenting. I probably get 40-50 grams per day. More if I drink a Protein Drink but I am so confused about Protein drinks.....some people say I shouldn't "drink" my calories and I should eat protein.

To me the main thing is clothing size, then the weight. When the inches fall off, your cloths sizes change. After the inches fall of, then the Lbs. wil catch up. Then when you lose weight, your cloth's sizes change again.

It is a WIN, WIN SITUATION. Just be patient, and be glad something is coming of.

Keep track of your food using some sort of food diary like The Daily Plate ($50/year for a completely private account - other sites get full access to use your data as they see fit - images too).

Get something like The FitBit ($99) to track your movement. It will tell you how sedentary or active you're being.

Those two things together will tell you what you need to do - eat less or move more.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
