Recommendations for am ELECTRONIC SCALE?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a favorite brand of scale? It sounds so silly - but I've returned two so far. The weight changed multiple times in ten minutes on both scales. I'm guessing I need to shell out some more money (rather than Walmart). I'm in Phoenix, so there are plenty of stores, I just don't know where to start. I figured you guys might know.

I like my weight watchers digital scale. I haven't had any problems with inconsistency on it and I think I got it from target. It was a little pricey (around 50 I believe), but it's worth it to have a good quality scale. Whatever the case, I definitely recommend digital :) Hope that helps some

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Target store closeby so I'll have to check that out. I looked on Target.com and there are several Weight Watchers scales...here is the link....which model do you have? Thanks!!

Make sure you keep the scale in one place and try to get weighed the same time each day (only get weighed once a day (or once a week if you can). Here are some researched choices:

(this site has a lot of ratings by people who used the scale)

Dang those have gone down in the past year. I have the body analysis one that's clear. You put in your height and you can program it to tell you your bmi and body fat

Percentage and some other fun stuff. I'm not sure how accurate but still cool lol. And like NJGirl said keep it in one place preferably on a hard surface. And try to weigh yourself at the same time. I'm the type who's too impatient to wait a whole week so I weigh myself as soon as I get up in the morning. Good luck!

I have the Omron, $67.

Omron Full Body Sensor Body Fat and Body Composition Monitor

It keeps a 90 day history for up to four people and does your: weight, BMI, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle percentage, metabolic requirement (number of calories required to maintain your weight), age based on your stats, and your visceral fat (the fat around your organs).

It's perfectly accurate when weight with and without weights (how I test scales) and weighs to the tenth of a pound. I strongly recommend it so you can make sure you're losing fat and gaining muscle and losing visceral fat. Plus it's a damn huge shock to the system to see your body's age based on your combined stats.

I just look at the body scale. Now that would interest me. Otherwise I refuse to bother, to many different readings from the Overseas junks! So, I stick with the Dr.'s Scale.

I will keep my eye on this though, and see if it's worth it.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm going to go with the Withings Wifi Body scale. Its $159 on Amazon with free shipping or they also sell it at my local Apple store for the same price (but you have to pay tax). I'm going to buy it from the Apple store since I can get it here in town. I seriously cannot believe I'm spending this kind of money on a scale! The idea of having my current weight/bmi/etc at my fingertips is really tempting. On the other hand.....do I really want it accessible all the time? Hmmmmm....choices choices!!

Find out how high up they go in weight before you invest. You don't want it to break at say 300lbs. That's why I didn't invest. My surgeon explained that they are all basically junk, everyone's scale is different. So there's is regulated often, and for me now that looks like the best way to go. Plus I don't drive myself CRAZY !

FABULOUS! I love love love my Withings Wifi scale. It's so easy and on days where I'm feeling like I'm worried about what the scale will say, I just don't look at it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
