LandieApplebottom 1 Posted June 25, 2011 Im only about 6 - 10 lbs heavier than you, same height, BMI barely 35. Im getting the band. My goal is about 140-150. I get the same reaction from people who say "your not even that heavy" but im at the same time, people refer to me as "that heavy girl". I love steak, am I am willing to accept the change in what I eat because it is these foods and lack of adequate exercise that keeps me at this weight. So keep that in mind. Ive also been on a diet for the last 5 months and havent really lost any weight. Ive been up and down. Hopefully the pre-diet will help you gradually adjust to the new eating lifestyle. DenMar 1 Posted August 22, 2011 Yes! I am 188 and 5'1"" BMI of 35 I actually had to gain 8 lbs to reach 35BMI. I am scheduled for OCT. 2011 surg. Target weight 125. I lost 5% of my body weight as mandated and now am 175. I see this as an excellent tool to maintain a proper weight. And yes I love my beer. Its carbonation thats the problem. You may want to try rum and a mixer. Some people will flatten their beer. Remember you will feel the effects easy due to very little food in stomach and liq. pass right through. 1 seeme1954 reacted to this
xavier 153 Posted September 20, 2011 Well I 'only' had to lose 70 to get to normal BMI so of course I had to self pay. I consider myself a low BMIer. I can eat anything or drink anything and I dont chew obsessively...BUT...I can only eat about a half a cup of anything at a time. My husband teases me that I eat so little I am a very cheap date! I can order a regular meal in a restaurant (come'on, girls we all know those portions are for an NFL linebacker, but we know we have eaten them!) and take the rest home and live on it for days! I LOVE my band because at the right fill level it absolutely prevents me from overeating. I have never dieted, counted calories, eaten diet food or low fat food, or exercised since I had the band, Hell, I had done all that many times before and failed or should I say succeeded in getting fatter everytime i lost then regained the weight?! I definitely eat and am more than happy with tiny portions but people do notice it when I eat with other people and I just had to get over that feeling of being judged. I didnt tell anyone except immediate fam that I am banded so I think my friends who see how little I eat think I am starving myself and maybe they even think I am judging them for eating the whole restaurant meal. I used to feel bad about that and would even overeat to the point of having to yak to try to cover how little I would eat...I dont do that any more I just dont care what people think! Getting to that point was probably the hardest thing about having the band. I went from a size 16 jeans to a size 6...nuff said! Juicy, good luck...thanks for friending me and dont listen to people who say its about following the rules and living at the gym (if we could do that...) its all about restriction...fight till you get your RIGHT level of restriction!! After that, its a (tiny) piece of cake! 3 greeneyedangel, jackieu and michele39 reacted to this

Sandra S 3 Posted September 25, 2011 I've lost 54 pounds since I got banded. Only 12 to go! I've had 1 fill (2cc), but would like another to help me feel full faster. I can eat anything with no trouble, although I don't eat rice, Pasta or bread. Good luck with your band. It takes a lot of will power as well as the band, but the results are worth it. Galaxy_Gal 4 Posted January 2, 2012 Did you get banded? How are things going? 50 lbs is totally doable. I am at about 40 lbs 1 year our and want to lose another 5-10. I lost, then stalled and things have really been clicking for me that past 4 months.
Kate rules 43 Posted January 13, 2012 I got banded 7/5/2011. Highest weight of 205, BMI of 36. I'm at 162 pounds today. Looking to make it to 140 and see how I look/feel then. May go lower but I'm just looking to be healthy more than anything else. My gift to myself for reaching my goal weight: a crescent tuck to get rid of my back fat rolls. Had them before I ever gained weight. Guess it is time to start my savings account!
SOPHIESMOM 4 Posted February 1, 2012 Hi! I am scheduled for the band next week. I have a BMI of barely 30. I would like to lose (forever!!) 40 lbs. I will post my experience starting next week. I know other low BMI lapbanders and they have done extremely well.
