Wendiss 0 Posted January 25, 2006 I was banded at 7:30am yesterday. Had a pretty easy day after surgery because I slept REALLY HARD ALL DAY long :notagree. Despite my day long sleep I did manage to get in a few laps around the hospital unit. I really did not sleep good at all last night because the 84 year old woman in the bed next to me kept getting up a pulling her IV's out. Her bed alarm would go off and the entire 3rd floor nursing staff would come running to stop/help her. The staff working w/her were SAINTS. Dr. Deol came to see me this morning in my room around 7:00 to check things out. I went down to Xray to sip some barium to make sure all was flowing right. I am happy to report there is smooth sailing all the way down :biggrin1:. I had to prove I could down and keep down liquids before being discharged, had tea, chicken broth, and apple juice. :hungry: Liquids or not they tasted wonderful. The only thing I was allowed to eat or drink after surgery was ice chips and they were to be eaten very sparingly. I would have sold my soul for a sip of Water yesterday. Was cleaned up and dressed by 10am and ready to go, but had to wait until 12:30 to be dicharged. I am happy to report I am home, resting, happy, and feeling GREAT. :clap2: Feeling a bit weak, but the pain is almost non-existent. Hopefully I will be able to control whatever pain I do have with the liquid Tylenol and not have to take the Tylenol 3 elixir Dr. Deol prescribed. Looking foward to starting this new chapter in my life.
Jessiebear 2 Posted January 25, 2006 Yay! Congrats!! All I took after my surgery was Tylenol. It sounds like you are doing great!! Those 84 y/os in the hospital can be lots of fun when they are confused! Glad you're home & doing great! Oh yeah.....Welcome to Band Land!!
Alexandra 55 Posted January 25, 2006 Congratulations! Your story is the kind of reason I'm glad I didn't have to stay overnight. I hate hospitals--they are the worst place to recover from something, IMO. Now rest up and heal quickly! Welcome to bandlandia!!!

Dutchgrl59 2 Posted January 25, 2006 :cake: Oh, it does my heart good to hear that you are safe and sound at home. Next report will be on those wonderful mushies and by summer that bikini - yeah! Much love, & congrats,
Wendiss 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Hey that was mean  You know how awful it is to laugh right after you get banded. I know I will be downing those mushies soon, but I never have never will be wearing a bikini. I will be slimmed way way down and in great shape, but no no no bikini. I'm a little more sore today than I was yesterday, but overall feeling pretty good. Have not had to take anything but Extra Strength liquid Tylenol for pain. Enjoying strained chicken noodle and egg drop Soup, but struggling to find someting I can handle w/protein in it. :hungry: Did have a Protein shake this morning, but I blended it and I think I made it a bit frothy. The froth was a bit to much for my new band to handle. I can not believe how small, clean, and neat my incisions are. I hope they continue to heal as clean as they are now. PhotoNut 7 Posted January 26, 2006 Grats on crossing over to bandland! I remember so well that feeling of thirst. They gave me a sponge on a stick that I dipped in Water and swabbed my mouth out with. After drinking the barium, they gave me a sip of Water to wash my mouth out with. How hard it was to spit that out and not swallow it! My hospital stay was only overnight but it was awful. I know how happy you are to be home. Keep up the great recovery, and keep us posted on your journey to good health.
