Aetna requires 2 Year Weight History

Recommended Posts

I am a little stressed because I received my 2 year weight history from my doctor and in 2009 my bmi was only 34.5 with high cholesteral and tryglycerides. Now my BMI is 36.5 with diabetes added to the mix for the past year and reflux. I am panicking that I have committed so much to the process, and even quit smoking, and will get denied. Has anyone any guidance?

Have the surgeon submit it and see were it goes. If you do get denied contact Walter and Kelley Lindstrom at obesitylaw.com. They can help with the appeals process and it should not cost you anything.

What about any comorbidities.

Do you snore? I'm sure you do. That's one.

How about those Knees that ache? That's one.

Any children? If not, "and your Married" That's a big one.

When you see your Dr., ask about the comorbidities. If he asks about any of these, your answer is yes... If he asks you how do you know you snore?

Your Husband or partner has told you that you snore. You can say your trying for kids, but know luck. In the Morning your knees are killing you. They feel like joints that need to be oiled. If you sit to long they act up "HURT" If the Weather changes they hurt.

2 of these are more then enough to be submitted to a Ins. Company, that it should be o.k.'d, and time moved up also.

Good Luck., Shirley.

You can say your trying for kids, but know luck.

Didn't know that helped....my hubby and I have been trying for almost three years. Hadn't even brought it up to the lap band doc. We have one child already, he's five.

I have aetna too and am concerned about lack of weight records, but my doc said even gym or personal records will help... Worth a shot.

Let him know that your trying, and there has been NO luck at all. That is a comorbidity.

Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I do have diabetes, high cholesteral and tryglycerides, and Gerd. I went for a sleep study last year and did not have it. Have three children and have been snipped so that won't help me. Everything will be submitted at the end of July. I will keep my fingers crossed!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
