It’s small, but my first NSV

Recommended Posts

I guess this counts. I guess about anything counts if you notice it, right? So here it is…

From someone formerly of the Clean Plate Club, I just realized after tossing some of my lunch away today, that I haven’t finished a meal in…weeks maybe?

I know that sounds like a big, “duh!” But considering I have had this thing since October and have only GAINED 2 pounds, I have to hold onto something. I think it will get better soon. This last fill seemed to help, and I just might be starting to get the hang of this. Guess I am a very slow learner, (and definitely a slow loser). But at least something seems to be changing. WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Angel,

That is absolutely a NSV!! I understand where you're coming from and you should be quite pleased! Think of it this way, all that food is not inside you, working against you, it's in the garbage working for you (in a wierd way but I think you know what I mean!) You're doing great, keep it up!!

Thanks for posting your NSV...I had never thought of it(leaving food on your plate) as a victory, but, I'm feeling really proud of myself right now! And you, too (not to grab your glory...) It really is the little things that make a difference! Good job! Cindy

Actually, I can see where this would be a major NSV, especially if you wer raised as a member of the clean-plate club! You have just managed to overcome a lifetime of habit and conditioning, you threw away food!

I say this AMAZING work!

That's no small achievement! That's HUGE!! Let's face it, our membership in the Clean Plate Club is what helped put us in a place where we needed WLS in the first place, and giving up a plate that still has food on it is a huge mental hurdle! Congrats!

OK I am a bit confused. I have had one fill and going for another because the first one didn't do a thing. I was told that I won't be able to eat very much because of a fill and I would be done after 1/2 cup of food. What is the deal, am I fooling myself to think that this will all be done by the fills and not with our own will power. I was told that I will be full and couldn't eat anything. I am confused. Is it still stopping ourselves after eating or is it because we are full HELP. Thanks for the help

I just now got a chance to come back to this thread and after a crazy stressful week, it was wonderful. thanks to everyone who posted. now to address a question...

Jolean, don't worry. The issue with me was that my fills have not been successful so far. This last one seemed to help some, but actually, will power is still playing a big part of it for me. especially since the food is moving through just fast enough for me to keep eating even after my pouch would have normally been full. it is difficult to explain, and difficult to know exactly when to stop, so when i realized that i hadn't finished my plate in a while i was thrilled. that didn't really start to happen for me until i started nibbling everything and eating even slower than my usual snail's pace. so yeah, that part will always have to come from us, but the proper fill will do a lot for you. i hope that helped.

and mousecrazy, you can jump in on my glory anytime!! :)

thanks everyone! have a great day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
