Nzeba511 0 Posted June 14, 2011 Good Evening from Germany, Being part of the military family, we are now stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. I have started the process to see if I qualify for the Lap Band and hoping to be successful as I have a little over a 100 lbs to lose. I have 4 amazing kids ranging from 17 to 2 yrs old...!!! I'm the CEO of my household, which leaves me with no time to really take care of myself, so I have decided to become selfish and take 2 hrs a day for me ( either I go exercising or just read a book). I'm meeting with my Dr. this Friday and hope that we can go ahead and put the packet in for approval from the insurance company. I've loved reading many of your posts here as they have answered a lot of the questions that I had in the beginning, but many of you are so honest about the pre and the post-surgery that I actually feel comfortable with it. My only concern for me is if I want to keep the Lap Band in for the rest of my life or not...??? Nzeba511
Cindy C 150 Posted June 14, 2011 That's something you'll have to decide for yourself when the time comes. Personally, I'm taking mine to the grave with me! I'm not taking the chance of getting back to 300+ pounds. My best friend is the same way. She went from 300 to 150 and has maintained it for about 7 years. She said if it was taken out there's no doubt in her mind that she would regain. I also know people who have reached their goal and had it removed. It just depends on the individual. schwanguysgal 0 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi! My husband is retired from the Army and we have Tricare. I have been approved through insurance for everything except the nutristionist. They paid for the psyc consult and the surgeon. Since you will be doing this on a military facility you should be fully covered. I am scheduled to have my surgery on June 28th. I am sooooooooooo excited! Oh and my husband and I were both stationed in Hanau, Germany back in 94. I so miss Germany! Keep in touch! Korilynn 1 Posted June 16, 2011 Hello! My husband is also Active Duty. We're stationed in England, but I have a friend at Ramstein! Tricare covered everything for me. It did take about 7 months for everything to get approved and my surgery to get done. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I love my band, It is one of the best things I've ever done for myself! Good Luck!
