Is there really a band in there?!?

Recommended Posts

I feel the same way. I am eating smaller meals but not because they fill me up but because I am afraid of doing something to mess up the surgery. I was banded May 30. I still have a week and a half before my first fill. My weight loss has stopped. I lost on the shakes before the surgery but the thought of going back to those makes me depressed. I thought the surgery was my beginning but now I feel like I am getting ready for the beginning. I hope it gets better!

I was banded on 5/24. I feel the same way.....is there a band there? I'm always hungry, I feel no restriction. I go for my first fill on 6/20. I couldn't go sooner because I am "healing". I initially lost 15 pounds but have gained 6 back in the past week or so. Very depressing and frustrating! I'm beginning to give up!

I'm soooo happy I'm not the only one! I initially lost 20lbs after the surgery on the liquid diet. i was banded on 5/23 and I have gained back 6lbs since being on mushees for 2 weeks now. I'm about to graduate to solids. This is so scary. I don't want to go backwards. :(

I was banded three weeks ago today...I am HUNGRY! The first three days post-op was rough but I have felt great since then. I was liquids for one week post-op, mushies for three days and then was allowed to introduce healthy, high Protein food based on my tolerance of it. However, I feel no restriction...no nothing! There is no fill in my band but thought I would at least feel something! I think I could eat a ton of food if I allowed myself (which I will not). I am eating 3 small meals and filling in my hunger with Protein shakes if needed. I don't feel like I even have a band!! I go for a fill appointment next week, but if I have lost more weight, he may not fill me. I could be doing the same thing without a band (as I did before surgery). Has anyone convinced their doctor to fill them based solely on the hunger factor? Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated :) !

I fee your pain! I was banded May 25th and I am hungry alot. I am counting calories and Protein and I eat 700-900 cals a day. I am a nurse and work at night and when I work, I am so busy that I don't think about the hunger as much. I get my fill June 30th but am a little optimistic because alot of people say that it takes 2-3 fill before you get to the sweet spot. I am going to hold on. I am down 14lbs since surgery but I am suffering. I am going to see the nutritionist today and hopefully she can shed some light on the situation. Hang in there!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
