Sounds like you're doing fine! Remember your hunger probably WILL come back as you get closer to your first fill. If you get used to eating the small portions now, you'll do so much better with your band. Keep on rocking that band!

I am in a similar place myself. I was banded 5/27/11, but my diet is a little different. Post op 2 wks liquid, 2 wks mushie (there now), and 2 wks soft. My calorie intake for today was 530 which is extremely low in my eyes. My doctor told me to only eat 4oz per meal even if it do not give a full feeling not to eat more than that. To eat high Protein foods and if hunger drink protien Water and protien shake between meals. I think the protein is the key. Tried to eat mash potatoes and things like that in the beginning because the thought of mushie blended chicken did not sound very good but I quickly learned that the carbs do not curve the hunger. Just stick to it and know that there are other in the same shape as you. Good luck and congrats on your loss so far.:D

yeah, i think leann is right about just making sure you're getting enough Protein. my doc recommended 60-80g a day.

i was banded 5/27 as well...i only had to do 2 days of liquids and then on to pureed foods...and now i'm on to soft solids, which i'm not totally sure what i'm eating is soft enough, but i'm trying. also, i had been told that the servings sizes might vary, depending on what i have. for example i did have a cup of chili earlier today...which I don't know, maybe that's too much. but it took me about an hour to eat it, so i went slow and it all went down fine. I am going to see my registered dietician and doctor again tomorrow, so i'm going to get more info on portion sizes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
