Your probably not going to feel restriction after your first fill..for most people, not all it can take a few fills. Just hang in there and try to learn and use the band rules. The weight will start coming off ..you are going to have to try and be patient ....keep up the exercise..It will all come together...this process has some pretty frustrating moments...I know Iv been there:) good luck!

Just try & be patient....(knowing this is really hard & sucks). I Had no restriction until my third fill and then aftter my fourth....I really feel like I'm in a good place.

1st 2.5

2nd 2.0

3rd 1.5

4th 1.0

my band holds 10....I really thought this was all such a joke and scam....But it really is true, when you get restriction you will know it. Now I have to eat very small bites, Chew Chew Chew and it I take to big a bite I know immediately. The beginning is so hard, b/c you are following the rules, drinking Water and exercising and still not loosing. Just hang in there & be patient.

You need a diet plan? Did your surgeon not provide you with one? I know a lot of us follow slightly different rules than each other but this post from the founder of this board lays it out pretty well:

My surgeon says to eat 4 oz. lean Protein, then up to a cup of veggies, THEN up to a half cup of whole grain if you're still hungry.

And yes, exercising five times a week is a great plan!

What kind of excersise are you doing? Are you working up a sweat? If your not, I suggest you gradually increase the intensity of what your doing. If your walking on a treadmill, you can put it on a slight incline. If your walking outside, try to pick up the pace.

As far as diet, I swear by a low carb, low fat, high protien diet. Lots of lean meat and veggies. I usually have 3 eggs (1 yolk) for Breakfast. lunch and dinner are about 6 oz of a lean protien (fish, chicken, pork loin) and a veggie. I eat 2 cheese sticks and 1/4c nuts as Snacks.< /p>

Find a web site or application that will help you log your intake

Set a limit for intake and stick to it

Tracking food intake is every bit as important as working out

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
