In honor of the occasion, I went to the Lap Band Center to use their scale. I know that their's and mine are a little different and I wanted the "real" number. At home this morning I was 181.8. Up there I was 185.0. That's OK. I can live with that. It's pretty much what I expected. So officially I have lost 139 pounds since being banded 3 years ago. The frustrating part is that I lost 115 the first year. 12 the second year and now 12 more the third year. Seriously? An average of 1 pound a month for 2 years?! I REALLY want get to the point that their scale says 162. That would bring my BMI to just under 24. Is that too much to ask? At this rate it will take another 2 years. OY!! I'm really not complaining, I'm thrilled with the success I've had but is there anybody else banded about this long and get so close to goal and have ANY suggestions how to jump start the weight loss again? I do all the things I know I should be doing. I exercise...I watch what I eat...My restriction is good...I don't drink very often...It's so frustrating! Thanks for letting me vent!

Great Job.....145 lbs in three years OMG. Sounds terrific to me.....do you think u could have done it without the band??? It probably has to slow down with the weight loss bcause you cannot continue to lose so much each year. I'm planning on getting the surgery in July.......if I don't chicken out. Senior citizen here and a bit scared.

That's such a great achievement!!! Just think that you are no longer walking around with the equivalent of another human being!! Today I was picking up 40 pounds of cholorine for my pool- that 40 pound container was SO heavy I could barely life it...I mean it was REALLY heavy. Then I thought..geeze if I lost 40 pounds it would be like not carrying around this container all day! Your body must be so thankful!! I am really proud of you and I think it's amazing! AT least you are still losing! Congrats again!

Thank you both and NO there is no way in youknowwhere that I could have done this bandless. I've lost and regained so many times I can't remember. The most I ever lost on my own was about 60 lbs. Of course within a year I gained 80! Cat lady, don't let your age stand in your way. You're never too old. My doctor banded a 72 year old woman and she has had incredible success. Read through the profiles. There are many of us here that are over 50. I was banded at 48.

Congratualtions! I loved hearing from someone that has been banded was this long. Our bodies are very efficient machines and we have to find ways to challenge the body to see more or different results.

You have to either change something i n your diet or your exercise routine.

Example-if you don't lift wieghts then begin. if you do cardio then you may need to do this more intensley.

Bottom line is you have to find a way to challenge your body because if your weight loss has stalled that is the only way.

Good luck!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
