going the wrong way

Recommended Posts

It has been 2 years since I had my lap band surgery. I had lost 105 lbs but gained 20 back. Ugh! It has been a year in a half since I last had a fill and I know I need to go in but I'm afraid because last time I went in I had only lost 5 lbs since my last fill and he told me he didn't exactly call that wait lost. I was completely hurt by this. Idk maybe I'm being a sissy but now that I put on 20 lbs I feel like I can't face him. I need a fill and there are no other doctors in my area who do this sort of thing. some of us have battled people puting us down our whole lives and I don't think they realize how one little negative word can send us spiraling downward.

Dont worry about what he thinks, just do what you need to do to get back on track. He's there to support you.

Hello.

If there is noone else available you're just gonna have to bite the bullet and return to him.

Be prepared for him to say something negative and when he does just simply say "last time you told me my effort wasn't good enough and I'd appreciate you not saying anything at all if you can't say something positive. I am here for your help and support, not any put downs".

Don't get upset, just be polite and firm. You will leave there feeling strong not weak.

Good luck. :)

When you see him he will be surprise to see you since its been awhile just let him know why it's been so long before you returned. Also you should use that comment as a tool to push you forward and work harder to lose the weight you gained back.

I agree with not letting him get away with bad comments. Go back and get a fill. Over time the Fluid in the band can decrease a bit and you will need a fill so you don't gain. I went back after not having a fill for almost a year. I got a fill back to my original sweet spot and it has helped. I agree with what skylily said for a response if he has something bad to say. Go get your fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
