My blood sugar came down to 252 but went back up on my last test at 289. I'm on insulin and have never been on insulin...they want to put me on avandia but i'm afraid. Any one epereince this?? thanks

My blood sugar went up after surgery also. I am not even diabetic. It was because the iv Fluid they were giving me had sugar in it. Once they stopped this, mine came back down a little, not to normal, but down a little. I hope this gets straightened out for you.

My blood sugar spiked also after surgery, and I am not a diebetic either. They just gave me a shot of insulin and never checked it again after that. They sent me home that night and I was fine. Hope everything works out for you

find out what type of IV solution is running D5/NS etc. if anything with D5 in it, have the physician called and switch over to a solution without D5 in it. Also, remember when the body is stressed (surgery is considered a body stress) the sugars will go up.

Also, if you are taking in fluids by mouth, look at what is in those drinks for sugar contents.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that you get sent home soon.

My guess is with some time, like another day. Your sugar level should drop. Make sure you don't drink anything wit sugar, and I hope your off the IV. If your not Diabetic, then I wouldn't get started on medication for it.

They thought my Husband was type 2 Diabetic. They finally went further into testing, and seen a Dietitian. She said I wouldn't start him on Medication, he's not Diabetic. I never gave him the pills, and told him, if they figure out that yes you are Diabetic ! Then you have the Meds.. Never needed it.
