Losing without working out

Recommended Posts

I find it hard to find time to workout on a daily basis, which scares me that after I have the surgery I will not have any results. Has anyone not had a daily workout and lost weight? I know when I was my ideal weight in the past I loved to workout because it was not as hard as it is now. I feel if I have this tool and know it will work, then my workouts will be more successful than in the past. I guess when it comes down to it and now that I have got approved I am really hoping I can stay committed. I don't think the food will so much a problem as the working out. Any words of wisdom??

Thanks

There are people who lose without exercising, but I think they're more the minority than the majority. It doesn't need to be a workout- heck, just a walk is going to be better than nothing.

I have to admit, I have been terrible about working out :( I am very good at doing like 50 crunches everyday and I take walks every once in awhile, but I have no real good workout routine. I have done well losing and don't really have excess skin, but I agree that this is probably not the norm. I know that I would be doing even better if I exercised. good luck on your journey!

It's so easy to say "I'm too busy to workout!". I have a membership with a 24 hour gym so I have no excuses (weather, hours, etc). You by no means have to go every day. Even 3x a week for a half hour will help tremendously. I found that after working out a few days a week, I suddenly started making more time to workout the other days because I felt great afterwards. So try going, even if it's once a week to start.

I hate it, I don't do it (rarely anyway). I've lost weight, but am not as healthy as I could be. I am more active than I was pre-op, but I could certainly be more-so.

I go in fits and starts. Say I am going to be a good little bandster and start a walking program. It lasts a couple of weeks, then I slack off. I have an arthritic knee which provides me a great "excuse." We have a pool, but it needed replastering. That has just been done, but it is still too cold, another good "excuse." Well that one is true..the Water is about 65..aint no way, no how!

But I think Rachel is correct, bandsters who exercise are more successful than those who don't. You also won't find me on here asking why I am not losing when I know darned well I could be exercising more and not consuming alcoholic beverages from time to time.

However, my blood pressure is good, my blood sugar is good, my cholesterol is good. I wear a size 10. I am a happy clam!

I have lost 55 pounds , since my surgery (Jan 28th ) got only 2 fills , the last was in april , i have not started working out , I wasnt going to even think about working out , because once you start , you have to keep at it , but now I have been thinking of starting to work out , I am 25 pounds from goal and the weight has slowed down , but I am still losing inches , I wanted to lose more fat first before I started working out

I havent worked out and that is probably why my weight loss has been so slow (also I have to drive 5 hours for fills so I had plateaus which totalled nearly a year when put together!) but I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that I will never gain the weight back.

I worry a little about people who do all this dieting and exercising being able to keep it up for many decades ahead. Maybe I am just rationalizing being lazy (LOL!) but I am just eating less because of the band and I know I will continue to do that...if I was any good at dieting and exercising long term, I wouldnt have had to get a device tied around my stomach!

Best wishes!!!

You need to workout or you will lose muscle and then not burn calories the way you should. Start slow and easy, walk in the morning or evening when it's cool, or get a bike. When I started I could only walk 1/4 mile. Now 4 miles is easy. Plus it's the best way to relieve stress and Gordon, seeing we can't eat.

Yes you are right, today there are so many people that are so busy that they don't have time for exercise. so it is very difficult for them to loose weight. so there are so many medicines and other type of things available for them.

When I am having a busy day, I go for a walk on my lunch hour. I also bought a used exercise bike this weekend and put it at the end of my bed. Now when I want to get on this website at night I ride and read! You need to do something, it makes you feel so much better.

Since I posted on this thread back in June 17 , I have lost 5 more pounds and still have not work out yet , granted my weight loss has slowed down , but even my wifes says I still look heathly , compared to other times I lost close to the same amount of weight , so right now I am happy with slow and steady , I know the closer I get to goal weight it will get harder , but I will deal with that when it comes

You dont have to work out hardcore at all. I basically lost 80lbs without really exercising much. I just made small changes like taking the stairs parking far away from the door of the shopping mall. If I need a coffee I go in instead of going through the drive thru. Now that I am smaller, I am finding it hard to loose that way though.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
