THANK YOU FOR EVERONE'S HELP

Recommended Posts

I am so embarrassed to ask for help with this but I am going to anyway, cause I need help. I am 19 days post op. I cannot have a BM to save my life. I have tried Benefiber, Milk Of Magnesia,Dulcolax, Fleet Enema, Suppositories, Eating Baby food Prunes and I can't go. I had the urge one or two times and had to manually pull some out of my behind. I have even gained 3 lbs, because I can't go. It's all building up. there any suggestions before I get the Dr to have to get it out?

Is this normal? Has or is anyone having this problem? What was your saving grace? The Dr said I did all that he would suggest.

Help!!!!

ROSE

When in doubt, drink a glass of salt Water. It's a natural cleanser. But it is not subtle. Be near a bathroom. Very near. Expect it to last around 1-1.5 hours.

1 quart (1 Liter) Water - warm or hot.

2 level tsp (not Tbsp) Natural Salt (sea salt - not iodine).

juice from a lemon or lime to offset the taste (though I chug it).

Mix it together, if it's warm - chug it (it's easier) - if it's hot, sip like tea but make it big sips.

You can also dissolve the salt in a shot glass of boiling water then add the boiling water to ice cold water and chug that if you prefer cold liquids.

It disrupts the salt balance in your intestines and forces your intestines to release water to balance the salt imbalance and basically you get really fast and strong soft stool.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
