Josie K...Starting my Brachioplasty journey

Recommended Posts

hi,

I am just starting my journey to undergo brachioplasty (this word sounds like a nosejob ro me lol!). Yesterday I went to see my PS that did my TT and breastlift. I asked him to look at my thighs and arms. No go for thighs. He said they are fine as is...He also felt my arms would look ok if I worked out. But i hate my batwings and i LOVE the way he did my first surgery. The scars are barely noticeable for my TT/Breastlift. So of course i want to get it done today. But we have quite a few trips planned this summer plus my stepdaughter is getting married in September. So my plan is to do it after the wedding. The Dr said he did my breastlift in a way that he can do the arms and also take some of the back skin away. So it's like a "gift with purchase" ha! I'm liking what i see on this forum in terms of the scar healing. Sueham....i'm right behind you on this one.......I'll keep everyone posted when i take my next steps....Josieioplasty

I am very happy for you...I have no regrets. It has been 18 months and I am sometimes forgetting I have scars....Scars are nothing compared to batwings!!!!

Got rid of my bat wings and they were HUGE! Thrilled that I did it but wish they had come out a little better, but yes would do it again for sure!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
