Hi! I'm Jada and I'm 28 years of age and I have struggled with my weight since I was 12...I found out in 2007 that I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure...following that a few months later I was sent to an OBG/YN and then was diagnosed with PCOS...I have also been trying to concieve for awhile and have decided to put that dream on hold after 4 monitored and failed cycles of clomid..I just recently as of April 06, 2011 went to the information seminar..May 26 was my first appt. with dietitian and things went well..This isn't self pay I have

insurance through United healthcare...I don't know if I will get approved but I'm hopeful...According to the Dietitian this is a 6month process

or longer...Thats a downer I didn't think it would take that long I was praying for just 2-6months nothing longer...So I'm waiting and praying

that I get approved and that things go over really smoothe...During this journey I have my longtime bf of over 10years he's my ROC' and I so love him alone with a few of my sister for support..I am going through this because I am tired of taking these meds I'm tired of limiting myself from any activities due to pain and etc...To rap things up that is some to most of my story I hope to find assiocates that could maybe one day lead to life long friends in this journey...

Hi, first what is pcos? Next I commend u for starting this process while u r still young. I am 53 and while I am by means ready to expire, I wish this had been available to me 25 years ago. I wouldn't have ended up with diabetes, high blood pressure, degenerative joint disease, 2artificial knees and a hip and depression for feeling hopeless at all these ailments. So u go girl. That 6 months will go by fast, trust me. I'm here add me as a friend. Anyway I can help, let me know.

Welcome Jada, and congratulations on beginning your journey to better health and a longer life expectancy. Before lapband I was (still am, they say it doesn't go away LOL) a type 2 diabetic. Within 3 months of lapband surgery I was off my meds. YAY!

I agree with Kay, you are smart doing this while you are young. I had lapband surgery when I was 53 and I am truly happy with the results. I say this even though I am a "slow" loser. I am down to a size 14 bottom/16 top ... I started at a size 26 -- and I am still losing. I am down to 1 blood pressure med and I walk 3 miles every morning -- I had back surgery in 2004. All these things were made possible by my band. PTL!

Please be sure to research WLS thoroughly. Knowledge is power, and that is so very true in this instance. You will hear so many different stories -- good and bad. You will need to sift through the info and make your own decision. This forum of chock full of information that will help you ... and some will even scare you; but take it all with a grain of salt and back up the info you get with research. The anecdotal info on this forum can be very inspirational and helpful ... with many cautionary tales.

So, be brave, ask questions and read, read, read!

All the best to you on your journey!

~Fran
