I agree with Cindy. My husband would tell you that he is most definitely enjoying the side effects of my weight loss ;)

I read that when you lose fat, your fat releases estrogen, and that may affect your sex drive.

How about some more men responding. If you have/had ED did the banding change anything? I'd like to know so I can look forward to a normal or close to normal sex life again.

I never had any problems with the equipment so I can't help you there. Its nice to be able to look down and see it again instead of a bulging belly though. I always had a high drive but now I don't always feel like I need to cover up and hide what I look like. Its much better in that respect.

can anyone tell me wheather they have lost there sex drive since having the lapband fitted

The first couple of weeks, I lost my sex drive. Didn't have the energy on liquids to be interested in sex. BUT, after I was eating regular foods and lost some weight, it came back much stronger than before I had surgery.

Yes, but I dont think its to do with the band, I think its the fact that I've gotten older, moved into my 40's, had cancer and gone through radiation and chemotherapy and as a result gone through menopause, it was bowel cancer I had and I've also had to deal with an ileostomy and having a bag (which is temporary) and just the general feeling that my body has somehow let me down and I'm now measurably older and no longer a young woman sort of feelings. On top of that, pelvic radiation does actually do damage to your bits. So there's really no mystery there and plenty of practice does keep those feelings alive somewhwat..

I had the band put in Feb 28, 2011. So a little over 3 months ago. I have lost about 40 lbs in the past 4 months. I figured my sex drive would have increased, but unfortunately, I have little or no libido right now :(. It is extremely frustrating for me! I feel great about myself and am wondering what is wrong. Am I the only one with a lowered sex drive?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
