Moving to Arkansas

Recommended Posts

Hi Arkansas Bandsters,

I am about to move to Conway for at least a year from Lubbock, TX, and am looking for a doc to do any fills or help with any problems should they come up. I had my band done in Texas a little over 2 years ago. I'm looking for any opinions/recommendations for a doctor in the Little Rock area. I am considering right now Dr. Wellborn, Dr. Baker, Dr. Luttrell, and maybe Dr. Gibbs in Searcy.

I'm mostly just looking for a place that is comfortable and helpful if I get freaked out about any problems. I haven't had many, but a few times things have gotten irritated and I needed to go on liquids for a few days to calm it down or have an unfill. My current doc has been great about helping out with that. His nurse gives some advice on the phone so I can try to not have to come in, since I am self-pay.

Anyhoo...does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Wellborn will only see his own surgical patients. Sorry ;-(

I am with the Wellborn clinic and he does take patients who move to Arkansas from another state!

I used Dr. Baker for the gastric bypass RNY in 2003. Last time I seen him was 2012 due to me moving away from Arkansas. He is WONDERFUL AND fantastic after care! Tell him Janine Said hi ☺️ let me know if you want any info. I'll try & help

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
