beccaboolane 1 Posted June 6, 2011 Would it be ok if I have a tablespoon of Water after I eat? I know we aren't suppose to drink, but sometimes my mouth gets on fire.
Mjv013 67 Posted June 6, 2011 Would it be ok if I have a tablespoon of Water after I eat? I know we aren't suppose to drink, but sometimes my mouth gets on fire. You should be just fine. Occasionally I drink about a 1/2 cup and as long as I dont slam it down Im completely fine. For those times when you need it, you just need it.
asksdf 5 Posted June 6, 2011 Yeah, I'll usually drink a half glass of Water or less when eating a meal. Just take small drinks, don't gulp it all down.
BandedKitten 0 Posted June 6, 2011 I told my nutritionist at my last group support meeting that the hardest part was not drinking while eating and she said i could take tiny sips. she said not to have a lot to drink because it forces the food down the band..making us get hungry faster than we should and resulting in eating more. So she said it's not going to "hurt" me but a lot of liquids all the time would make the band less effective in the long run.
DRobjohns 3 Posted June 6, 2011 Thanks for this info...I was wondering the same thing since I use a lot of hot sauce to spice up my food.< /p>
Cocoabean 430 Posted June 7, 2011 The only difference I have ever noticed if I drink with a meal is that sometimes it will make me feel stuck if I take too big of a drink. If I sip, no problems, and I don't feel hungry any sooner. My surgeon doesn't have an issue if I drink a little with my meals.
Cindy C 150 Posted June 7, 2011 I always sip on something with my meals.
Acadia 20 Posted June 9, 2011 If you need the quench from eating hot foods, try keeping a little dish of regular yogurt (at least half fat) or greek yogurt (more like sour cream but high protein) and use that after your meal or between bites. The fat will take the burn away and you won't need to drink. Even a tiny dish of ice cream (1-2 Tbsp) works. But it has to have fat. Or drink some Protein Shake mixed with a tablespoon of yogurt. All safe, relatively high Protein options.
Woodslass 22 Posted June 9, 2011 My surgeon gave me a great rule - put a cup of ice next to your plate. Whatever melts during your meal, you can drink.
Acadia 20 Posted June 11, 2011 That's a good idea with the melting ice.
