Keep your eyes on the prize AlyGurl! You can do it, just make sure what you are burning in the gym isn't too different from what you are taking in, you don't want starvation mode or faintness...get that Protein in somehow!

Yeah, I tried to call my nutritionist today to ask about it bit I couldn't get through. :/ I'm trying to keep it balanced but I'm just not hungry!

Got got the email from my surgeon's office that they have all my test results in and I am ready to go!!!!! CRAP......am I ready to go? Why am I getting this feeling of dread? Could it be that I also started my official liquid diet today? I haven't been doing any "final" meals, but drinking Protein Drinks for Breakfast and lunch in order to get ready for the real thing.

Have a good day, Banders!!!

Thanks Shauna for the article link about H Pylori. I really don't like thinking that I have this stuff in my stomach! Yuck!

I will look for the Mio drink...thanks Lizzy2150 and MassMommyRebecca. I thought I was the only one that couldn't stand aspartame.

Also...good to know that omeprazole can be cut in half. I have ordered chewable Celebrate Vitamins because the Vitamins I take now are horse pills.

It was the gastroenterologist (sp?) that treated me that way...not my surgeon (thankfully).

QUESTION: I realize I shouldn't be asking about fills yet but it is bothering me. I have read a lot about them on here. Has anyone's surgeon talked about when you would get your first fill? I know it varies based on weight loss and sensation. I just wondering if anyone was told when they would get a fill already.

last day of pre-op diet, getting major jitters about surgery tommorrow and worried about taking care of my kids, even though i have help...also, stressed about the whole nursing thing, trying to pump for my son who is 11 months, but have never been successful with that as much as direct nursing (which i won't be able to do until nighttime)...fearing that i am getting this done and still won't reach my goals yet again...a lot of mixed emotions, but i know in my gut somewhere (that will hopefully be gone soon :)) that is what i want to do!

Yes - when I went to my pre-op appt with the surgeon earlier this week, they scheduled a post op check with the surgeon and also my first fill (in August sometime). Just remember - it is your body - if you don't want a fill, you don't have to get one :) The company I picked covers fills for the first year - however frequent or infrequent they are needed.

Alrighty, folks. I made 7 flavors of sugar free Jello and I'm ready to rock and roll. My dad arrives later today and he'll stay with me for a few days following surgery.:D

I picked up some Pyrex brand glass custard cups with lids, so those will be great as small bowls!! I found them at Walmart.< /p>

Merlina,

My first fill is 6 weeks out...I've heard of them being done as early as 4 weeks out, but it depends on your surgeon, so you would have to call them.

Shauna

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
