Hi, I am a 34 year old breast cancer survivor from IL. I have fought my weight the majority of my adult life. In 2008 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically medullary carcinoma of the breast. I had 2 lumpectomies, 1 lymphocentisis, 12 rounds of chemo, 33 radiation treatments, a complete hyaterectomy & oopherectomy, another biopsy, and 1 more lumpectomy on the other breast that came back with b9 results. Oh yeah and I have fibromyalga, All of this and I am fatter than ever!!!

Maintaining a normal body weight will greatly reduce my risk of reoccurence but I can't seem to loose wt. on my own. I am having surgery on Weds. I am starving, weak, shaky, and achy from the liquid diet. How on earth am I going to make it 3 more days??? Any suggestions??

Helps to drink lots of Water. Get some crystal light in flavors you like. Boost high Protein is good too.

I am also a BC survivor. I am now 50 but, have been cancer free for 15 years. I found my BC during a routine baseline mammogram at 35. I was diagnosed with DCIS in both breasts. Following four lumpectomies, where they were not able to find clean borders, I tested at UCLA and was accepted into their program where a study was being done on women under 40 was being conducted with Dr. Susan Love. Hallelujah... I opted for the full treatement, a bilateral mastectomy, 8 weeks of bilater radiation and 20 weeks of chemo. I did saline implants and had four sets of plastic surgeries. Here, is the good news. I am well. I have not had any problems in more than 12 years...I am also fat.

I don't want to be fat. I worked hard at surviving did that, and worked hard at dieting and exercise.....did not do that. How was I able to survive the most horrific time of my life but not one of the seemingly simple things...

I have felt like a failure over the yesrs for the extra weight and made myself totally feeling guilty of not TRYING hard enough. So, guess what. I am not weak, I am a survivor, I am strong.

I am week six following lapband surgery. I have my first fill on Tuesday and am thrilled with everything. Your strength is regained once you get enough Protein, drink lots of liquids throughout the process. Walk to get rid of any gas pains and following your Dr.'s orders ALWAYS. The pre-op diet was worse than anything in the whole six weeks so far. So far, I have lost a total of 20 lbs. I am so excited that I can hardly stand it. I am a little nervous however, abou the fill.

So, all together I have had little or no hunger, I have had no problems with swallowing, no problems with food sticking and just a whole new level of feeling good about myself.

So there, you have it. You are going to do great and, you are going to be a whole new person, with a whole new outlook. Can't wait to hear about your success.

D

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
